Alam mo ba na may bacteria, fungus, at iba pang mikrobyong naninirahan sa tiyan ng iyong alagang baka?

Hindi lamang sa baka, ang kambing at iba pang ruminants ay may mga mikrobyo din sa kanilang tiyan 🦠

Milyun-milyong mikrobyo ang nakatira sa rumen ng bawat ruminant. Pero ang mga mikrobyong ito ay nakakatulong sa pagbibigay ng energy requirements ng ating mga alaga.

Ang mga mikrobyong ito ang responsable sa paggawa ng volatile fatty acids o VFAs. Ang symbiotic na relasyon ng ruminant at mga mikrobyo ay mahalaga para sa parehong partido.

Isang malaking nagagawa ng mikrobyo para sa host nitong ruminant ay ang kakayanang i-breakdown ang kinakain nito na fiber mula sa mga damo, legume, at iba pang forages. Ang cellulose ay isa sa mga bahagi ng mga forage na ang mga mikrobyong ito lamang ang may kakayanang mag-breakdown 🌾🌿

Dahil dito ay nac-convert ang kinakaing mga damo upang maging VFAs at mga microbial protein na maaaring magamit ng ruminant.

Kung wala ang mga mikrobyo ay hindi magagawang kainin ng mga ruminant ang mga damo. Hindi din natin mac-convert ang enerhiya na nanggagaling sa damo upang maging produkto na magagamit nating mga tao, tulad ng karne o gatas 🍖🥛

Dahil sa milyun-milyong mikrobyo na ito, nagagawa ng ating mga alaga na mabuhay. Kaya naman ay dapat nating panatilihing maganda ang estado ng mga mikrobyong ito sa pamamagitan ng wastong nutrisyon at tamang pagpapakain sa ating mga alaga.
