It is with the utmost pleasure that the second leg of the School-Based Training of Teachers for the MATATAG Curriculum Implementation for Grade 1 Teachers was concluded on May 27-31, 2024 at Westwood Farm Events & Accommodation, Tarlac National High School, and FR White Hall as per approved Division Memorandum No. 329, s. 2024.
Tarlaqueno teachers have the penchant for imparting knowledge and a desire to cultivate young minds. This intensifies the passion and drive for the realization and embodiment of the MATATAG Agenda of the Department of Education. Within the halls and sessions, the teachers seek and discover invaluable instruction, realization, and learnings upon the methods and manners befitting on the current battle cry of the Department.
The trainers and facilitators provided lively lectures and stimulating dialogues among their contemporaries towards making sure that the Key Stage 1 learners will then inculcate the purpose and soul of the MATATAG Curriculum. The school-based trainers hailing from the Curriculum Implementation Division.
The Schools Division Office of Tarlac Province embraces the MATATAG Agenda wholeheartedly in witnessing the blossoming of young minds in achieving the highest order of thinking and expression. It is an undertaking that brings learners and educators with immense satisfaction and leave an indelible mark upon the future that lies ahead of us.
The Department of Educationโs MATATAG Agenda was launched as the new direction of the Department towards improving the quality of basic education in the country. It focuses on the decongestion of the curriculum, focusing on foundational skills, and balanced cognitive demands among others as stated in the DepEd Memorandum No. 054, s. 2023. The Phase I Implementation for the MATATAG Curriculum will be on the SY 2024-2025 with Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 4, and Grade 7 as the spearheading grade levels.

As the Division Roll-Out of the MATATAG Curriculum Implementation comes to its ending pages, it unfolds towards at the school level of the same training on the first batch of the School-Based Training of Teachers on the MATATAG Curriculum Implementation at Westwood Farm Events and Accommodation, Care, Tarlac City as per approved Division Memorandum No. 313, s. 2024.
The lead trainers for the Kindergarten Batch (Batch 1) were PSDS Dr. Marissa M. Damian and EPSvr Dr. Allan T. Manalo. Alongside the Division core trainers from the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), school-based trainers were the participants from the Division-based training of the same comprising of selected Principals, Head Teachers, Master Teachers, and Teachers. The collaborative and proactive effort of both Division and School-Based trainers brought in the success of capacitating more than 500 Kindergarten teachers of Tarlac Province.
In order to aid in the smooth facilitation of the succeeding massive batches for the school-based training, EPS II of ALS, PDO Is, and selected AO IIs teamed up with the Division and School-Based trainers in keeping things at bay while also promoting interactive sessions of each classes.

The Schools Division Office of Tarlac Province alongside the DepEd Regional Office III conducted its On-Site Briefing and the Administration of First Mock Exam for the National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH) last May 04 to 05, 2024 at Corazon C. Aquino High School, Gerona, Tarlac.
Chief Examiner for the fifth testing site at Corazon C. Aquino High School is Dr. Edwin T. Marcos the Chief of Quality Assurance Division as well as the Regional NQESH Program Manager. Leading the information technology concerns and capacitating roving ITs is the Division's ITO Engr. Eric Mel P. Corpuz. To provide clarifications on the proceedings on the beginning of the briefing up to the day of examination, Regional Monitors EPSvr of QAD Dr. Alvin P. Hulipas and EPSvr HRDD Dr. Eugene S. Yango capacitated Division Monitors and Room Examiners of Tarlac Province.
Room Examiners, Roving ITs, and Division Monitors compose of selected Division Education Program Supervisors, Public Schools District Supervisors, Education Program Specialists of ALS, Senior Education Program Specialists, and school teachers.
This stride aims to suffice the schedule and administration of the National Qualifying Examinations for School Heads (NQESH) for its Division examinees in accordance to the DM-OUHROD-2023-1831 and Regional Memorandum No. 313, s. 2024.
The National Qualifying Examination for School Head (NQESH), previously known as the Principal's test, is one requirement for the appointment and reclassification of all aspiring applicants on Principal and Assistant Principal Positions in all public elementary and secondary schools.

At its core, the Department of Educationโs battle cry of the MATATAG Curriculum and agenda revolves four main core components: (1) including improving the curriculum by focusing on foundational skills and embedding peace competencies; (2) building more resilient schools and classrooms; (3) strengthening inclusive education programs, advocating for teachersโ additional benefits and (4) providing professional development programs, among others.
Through this step from the Central Office, the Schools Division Office of Tarlac Province capacitated the first batch of teachers and educational leaders in the realignment of the K-10 curriculum through the Division Roll-Out of the MATATAG Curriculum Implementation last May 10 to 14, 2024, at Hacienda Gracia Resort & Hotel, Sta. Maria, Lubao, Pampanga as per approved Division Memorandum No. 306, s. 2024.
The first batch comprises of educational leaders and educators from Kindergarten, English (Grade 4 and 7), Filipino (Grade 4 & 7), and EPP/TLE (Grade 4 and 7). Through this training, the identification of qualified Division trainers will be the ones who will be cascading of the same at the school-based training as spearheaded by the Division.
Its trainers were participants from the Regional Training from the heart and soul of content and pedagogy of the Division โ the Curriculum Impelementation Division comprising of the Chief Education Supervisor, Education Program Supervisors, Public Schools District Supervisors, Head Teachers, Master Teachers, and Teachers from the Tarlac Province
This training focuses on providing continuing professional development as well as the alignment of educators and school leaders in ensuring the in-depth knowledge, sharpen of skills, refocusing of learning competencies, and understanding as to the realization and inculcation of the MATATAG Curriculum. This involves the burst of interactive sessions per learning and area and grade level, revisitation of essential 21st century skills, promote learner inclusion, and the application of pedagogical strategies and assessment methods in each learning area in grasping the MATATAG Agenda.
The Division continues its second leg of training of the same its proceeding Batch were other learning areas were also delved upon. The Schools Division Office of Tarlac Province commits on the improving the access, equity, equality, resiliency, and well-being of stakeholders and teachers and through the Divisionโs unwavering commitment and sustained effort, the impactful implementation of the DepEd MATATAG shall testify its support towards the flagship program of the current mandates of the Department.

In cognizance with the Republic Act No. 10912 or the โContinuing Professional Development Act of 2016โ, the State shall institute measures that will continuously improve the competence of the professionals in accordance with the international standards of practice, thereby, ensuring their contribution in uplifting the general welfare, economic growth and development of the nation. This also suffices the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as a mandatory requirement in the renewal of Professional Identification Cards (PICs) of all registered and licensed professionals under the regulation of the PRC.
As the Division continues to deliver an unparalleled level of curriculum instruction and teaching pedagogy, it also fosters intellectual growth and upholding the continuing professional development of its Tarlaqueno educators in order to resolve the learning gaps and educational woes of the times. The fourth set of photos Empowering K-3 Mathematics Educators: DepEd Tarlac Province 2024 Teaching Training Initiative from April 11 โ 13, 2024 at Westwood Farm Events & Accommodation, Care, Tarlac City brings an end to the final leg of the seminar in partnership with the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED).
The final day of the seminar brought in the session of assessments to learners to provide proper gauging and interventions as simplified by Ms. Mary Ann S. Mandap through the introduction of interactive activities and reflection among participants. Additionally, the seminar was graced by Dr. Joel S. Guileb and OIC - Administrative Officer V Bernadette B. Moratillo, DPA. After, participants initially crafted their Workplace Action Plan (WAP) as recommended by OIC โ Education Program Supervisor (Math) Mr. Joey G. Quizon. Additional reminders were given to participants as stated by OIC โ Senior Education Program Specialist (HRD) Ms. Mary Rose A. Corpuz and Administrative Officer II Mr. Al Jerard M. Soriano.
The closing program was then followed with the Impression expressed deeply and heartily by Ms. Mylene J. Dizon, Teacher III from Concepcion West. Dr. Joel S. Guileb, OIC โ Chief Education Supervisor (SGOD) stated his challenge for K-3 math teachers in the seminar. Dr. Guileb shed light on the weak formative assessments of learners in tailor-fitting the studentโs progress in hopes of minimizing learning gaps. Further, he challenges teachers to provide the best for their learners in cognizance to the teacherโs factor in the learning process of pupils. Lastly, he encourages teachers to self-reflect on their teaching goals in order to translate the training to better results of learners in their assessments.
This was then accepted by the participants as spearheaded by Ms. Precious Micah V. Ramos, Teacher I from Concepcion East and pledged to commit as stated by Ms. Mary Anne S. Solomon, Teacher I from Concepcion West in chorus with all of the participants. The certificates awarded to the speakers, facilitators, technical working group, and working management team were led by Dr. Guileb, Mr. Quizon, and Ms. Corpuz.
As the program comes to an end, Mr. Quizon provided a memorable remarks and headstrong ways forward to teachers in the strategy on pedagogy, proactive assessments for learners, ways for improvement, and being flexible and adaptable to the needs of learners and contemporary approaches of the trends in education. Lastly, Mr. Quizon extends his warmest gratitude from the resource speakers and facilitators from ACED, Dr. Guileb and Dr. Lawrence M. Santiago from the Social Mobilization and Networking Unit in the forged partnership, the Learning Management Team and Program Management Team (Human Resource and Development Unit and School Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation Unit) in ensuring the smooth flow of the seminar from the previous seminars up to the final leg.

The third set of photos Empowering K-3 Mathematics Educators: DepEd Tarlac Province 2024 Teaching Training Initiative from April 11 โ 13, 2024 at Westwood Farm Events & Accommodation, Care, Tarlac City it provided an impactful, energetic, and jolly session to participants to the various activities as shared by Mr. Edwin Dominic B. Ortiz.
Continuing with the second day of training, the activity was once again graced by OIC โ Office of the Schools Division Superintendent ASDS Dr. Danilo M. Jacoba and discussed matters with the Director of the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED), Dr. Carmela C. Oracion. The day continued with the fulfillment of the package on mathematical fluency and the concrete-pictorial-abstract (CPA) approach. This pave the way to numerous engaging activities for Tarlaqueno teachers in order to make the content and learning pedagogy exciting for learners as demonstrated by Mr. Ortiz.
Come the afternoon session of the seminar, Director of Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) Dr. Carmela C. Oracion greeted the participants with a warm and heartfelt inspirational message. She provided emphasis on how are always striving to keep things afloat in the frontline of the countryโs educational crisis. She expects that teachers from the seminar move forward through surpassing what ACED has in order to support the Tarlaqueno learners. Lastly, she imparted a heartfelt thanks to teachers towards voicing out their clamors in their respective realities of their classroom in order to tailor fit the needs of teachers as well as provide a healthy dialogue and exchange for all.
Continuing forward with the Number Sense as a Priority and the Low Threshold High Ceiling Task, Mr. Ortiz provided a realization session to participants as to how these affects learners and how they can pace things in accordance to the learnerโs flow without sacrificing the disruption of weekly deliverables.
As the second day come to an end after Mr. Ortizโs session, Mr. Quizon gave additional reminders to participants in the crafting of their own Workplace Application Plan (WAP) in the new approaches in their classrooms.

The second day of the capacity building was graced by the Director of the Ateneo Center for Educational Development, Dr. Carmela C. Oracion. Dr. Oracion with Mr. Quizon observed the synergy of liveliness and active participation of math teachers for the dayโs session. The speaker for the second day entered the quorum with a bright smile and positive disposition, Mr. Edwin Dominic B. Ortiz. He orchestrated the discussion for the crafting of full package on mathematical fluency of learners for the educators.

With the strengthened partnership of Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) with the Schools Division Office of Tarlac Province, it spearheads its final leg on the capacity building for K-3 teachers for the Math Learning Area. As per approved Division Memorandum No. 220, s. 2024, Empowering K-3 Mathematics Educators: DepEd Tarlac Province 2024 Teaching Training Initiative from April 11 โ 13, 2024 at Westwood Farm Events & Accommodation, Care, Tarlac City carries in the essential skills that provides a solid introductory learning of Key Stage 1 learners in the realm of early numeracy proficiency.
The capacity-building program aims to: (a) afford educators with practical strategies and methodologies to augment understanding and excellency in foundational mathematical concepts to K-3 education; (b) implement a variety of evidence-based best instructional strategies and resources to better engage learners to mathematic learning experiences; (c) apply formative assessment techniques for better and informed interventions to the learnerโs needs; (d) introduce equitable and inclusive mathematics instruction by taking into consideration culturally responsive and sensitive to learnerโs realities; and (e) initiate and sustain continuous professional development and lifelong learning opportunities.
The first set of photos encapsulates the Opening Program as emceed by the engaging and dynamic Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Roderick C. Rivera. The roll call was then followed by Administrative Officer II Mr. Al Jerard M. Soriano. A bright and cheerful energizer was augmented by Dr. Rivera which was then followed by the Statement of Purpose delivered by OIC โ Education Program Supervisor (Math) Mr. Joey G. Quizon. Mr. Quizon gave emphasis on how the K-3 educators are in the frontline towards the aiding the numeracy losses and learning gaps of Key Stage 1 learners in order to leapfrog the countryโs underpinned status of its international learnerโs assessments. Additionally, he provided an overview towards the participantโs expectation of applying their learnings through formulating their own Workplace Application Plan (WAP). OIC โ Chief Education Supervisor (SGOD) Dr. Joel S Guileb delivered his Message on how the Schools Division Office of Tarlac Province proactively resolve these challenges through empowering and capacitating educators towards their continuous professional development.
Moving towards the session proper and as introduced by Dr. Rivera, Ms. Mary Ann S. Mandap took the center stage in her engaging sessions towards critical thinking and problem-solving presentation. The first session brought in the ideal student and how they are expected on approaching mathematics within their own cognition. It was then followed by the non-negotiables of teachers wherein they discussed what are the necessities and essential in achieving the best learning outcomes for their learners, with the dynamic collaboration of Mr. Ortiz and Ms. Mandap. Following the afternoon, Ms. Mandap brought in the necessary parts and elements of a lesson in order to springboard learners and initially grasp the expectations of their lessons.
The seminar was graced by Chief Education Supervisor (CID) Dr. Paulino D. De Pano. He then provided a an inspirational message wherein he provided his own curiosity towards how the learning pedagogies and strategies are for the last leg of the seminar. The seminar was also briefly monitored by Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Danilo M. Jacoba. Dr. Jacoba alongside Administrative Officer IV (Supply Officer) Mrs. Rosella M. Soriano inspected the proceedings of the seminar with further discussions from the management of Westwood Farm Events and Accommodation.

Pursuant to Division Memorandum No. 224, s. 2024, the second set of NQESH qualified applicants partook in the authenticity and veracity of their documents alongside the printing of their examination permit and the necessary fees for the NQESH examinations.
The Division verifiers as spearheaded by OIC-EPSvr LRMS Dr. Annie Michelle F. Laurzano, with PDO I Ms. Ashley Kate Laxamana, and AO II Ms. Charlotte Anne M. Peregrin verified the documents of the second set of NQESH applicants from April 02 - 05, 2024 at the Human Resource and Development Unit.

The third day of the Conduct of the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Component of the MATATAG Curriculum Division Training for Schools Heads for Indigenous People Education (IPEd) School Heads held at Otel Pampanga, San Fernando, Pampanga carried in the core foundation knowledge of the Departmentโs IPEd Program to IPEd Implementing Schools of Tarlac Province.
Dr. Arnold Montemayor, the Regional Supervisor In-Charge for IPEd revisits and fortifies of the discussion of DepEdโs IPEd Program which introduces the rights of Indigenous Peoples (IP) to basic education that is responsive to their own context, identities, and promotes their indigenous knowledge, skills, and other aspects of their cultural heritage. Later that day, the seminar was graced by the OIC โ Chief Education Supervisor Dr. Joel S. Guileb and OIC โ Education Program Supervisor Dr. Lovella G. Paragas.
Reeling towards the closing program, Dr. Ferdinand Marcos provided his reflection and insights towards the three-day seminar. This then paved the way for the Challenge by Dr. Joel S. Guileb for the IPEd Implementing School Heads to prepare IP learners in realizing the Departmentโs MATATAG Agenda. To which Dr. Michelle Felipe along with her fellow contemporaries accepted the challenge. This led towards the commitment to the agenda as led by Ms. Mary Jane Dumaplin. Lastly, Dr. Helen R. Bose and Dr. Lovella G. Paragas awarded the certificates to the participants of the seminar.

The second day of the Conduct of the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Component of the MATATAG Curriculum Division Training for Schools Heads for Indigenous People Education (IPEd) School Heads held at Otel Pampanga, San Fernando, Pampanga brought in the necessary contextualization of the MATATAG Curriculum to IPEd Implementing Schools.
The National IP Situationer, the Philippine Education System and IP Communities, and the Principles, Approaches, and Skills in Contextualization was elaborated and enhanced by Ms. Liezl Sanchez an IPED Facilitator and National Trainer. This carried in the appropriate measures and stakes of the IP Community in schools in order to contextualize the rich cultural fabric of stakeholders to the strides of the MATATAG Curriculum. Consequently, the training was graced by the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of the Curriculum Implementation Division, Dr. Lourdes G. Dela Cruz.
