While we couldn’t include all the restaurants, eateries and food products from the entire province, may this be the start of our rediscovery of the countless culinary treasures of Laguna 🌱

As unique a product as can be found anywhere, Nina Perez Velasco’s Calamansi with Nata de Coco has been passed down through generations. Meticulously prepared, this specialty product takes more than two weeks to make. Prepared, soaked, and cooked in multiple stages, this laborious process results in the calamansi resembling gems that sparkle in its syrup. This is a must-try traditional dessert, eaten as is or as an addition or topping for other sweet treats.

Sambalilo, hand-woven hats made of dried pandan leaves are the pride of Cavinti, Laguna. These traditional hats provide protection from the elements and are skillfully woven by artisans. Aside from being used as hats, the creative weavers of Cavinti have also made unique packaging out of the hats.
Our bite-sized Mini Cheesecakes are perfect as a gift! These mini cheesecakes are packed in handwoven Sambalilo boxes from a women led coop from Cavinti, Laguna.
Filipino Food Month is something we look forward to every year. It’s an opportunity to highlight and promote our country’s rich food culture, and for me, the culinary treasures of Laguna.
This year, I was privileged to be invited to cook with two amazing chefs: Chefs Waya Araos-Wijangco & Rhea Castro SyCip. It was an honor to cook with and learn from these talented, humble, funny and very professional women. I am fortunate to call these legendary chefs my friends/labs 💖
The recently concluded 6-hands dinner, Higara: A night of Filipino Food and Culture, held at Sheraton Manila was a showcase of not just Filipino food, but the women behind what we eat. In addition to us three female chefs cooking, our ingredients were also sourced from women-led cooperatives.
Thank you to Chef Jam Melchor and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement and to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts for inviting us. We hope there will be more opportunities to highlight our diverse culinary treasures. There is so much to taste and discover. While it is important to promote our food to the world, we must begin by first discovering and re-discovering what we have.

My hometown, Santa Cruz, Laguna is known for Kesong Puti. It is traditionally eaten with local breads like pan de sal, or as is with rice.
Drawing inspiration from traditional Kesong Puti, we’ve added a few choice ingredients to make it even better. Made from Organic Carabao’s Milk, our Kesong Puti is made the traditional way then submerged in pure olive oil infused with fresh herbs, roasted cordillera lemons and garlic.
