FILIPINO-FRENCH MUSIC FEST BAGUIO LEG STAGED
The Baguio leg of the Fête de la Musique, an International Music Festival featuring French and Filipino artists grooved the audience at Session Road last June 26.
Nineteen featured artists performed live during the Fête de la Musique: Diztrith, Blue Ruins, Gendear, Mantra x Makina, Sonny Bambino, 10 am Departure, Zsaris, Turncoats, Baka.Baka, TUS, Ang Bagong Luto ni Enriquez, Rice Lucido, Marcus Moon, Brass Pas Pas Pas, Amateurish, The Lowtechs, Ibarra, Leanne and Naara and Dilaw.
"Bilang musikero, natuwa ako dahil may Fête de la Musique dito sa Baguio kasi sa ibang lugar walang event na ganito. Sobrang busog pa dahil 'yung mga na-invite natin dito is lehitimong magagaling," Yakalz, the host of the event said.
Yakalz encouraged everyone to continue supporting local musicians.
The first staging of the Fête de la Musique in Baguio was in 2017 which showcased over 40 performers from the National Capital Region.
After two years, the Fête de la Musique also known as Music Day, Make Music Day or World Music Day was once again staged with the theme of “Tara! Allez!”—both words translating to “Let’s go!” in Filipino and French—it also hopes to invite people to go out into the streets where the music is."
This annual music festivity started in France in 1982 and has since been celebrated every June. It is now staged in over 700 cities and 120 countries including the Philippines. - Nene Cadiog
