Short answer - it depends.

Many of our clients have specific areas of their home or office where they would want a camera to be.

Some of them are okay, some can be better positioned. Communication is key.

The most important thing to remember when installing a CCTV security system is to plan ahead. That is why we take the time to visit, do an ocular inspection before we make any recommendation.

During one inspection, we gave 7 quick tips to a recent customer in Paranaque. Supplying glass and aluminum to the local community, their warehouse is big enough to accommodate trucks and personal cars of clients.

1. Focus on specific areas – loading and unloading bay.
2. Secure entry and exit points – include the gate and garage if applicable.
3. Use multiple cameras to cover blind spots – when necessary.
4. Position camera at a downward angle – Focal length and FOV-Field Of View are important factors to consider
5. Place the security cameras out of reach – 2.4 to 2.8 is the standard.
6. Beware of lighting issues – they may impact image quality.
7. Lastly, CHECK – one can easily overlook obstructions and other issues so take a good hard look at the actual camera view.

Although re-positioning cameras are not that difficult, without a little bit of skill and the proper tools, it can be a pain.

The Right Camera For The Job

Most businesses needs CCTV Surveillance. There's no question about it. If you're the one in-charge, you need to think about exactly what you want the cameras to do.

After all, not all cameras are created equal.

There are a few key points to consider.

1. Theft Prevention: You want cameras zoomed in on specific areas and capture detailed images.

You might have noticed that big black camera right above each cashier/counter on every SM Store.

2. Monitor Employee Movement: For this, you need wide angle cameras with the emphasis more on coverage than detail capture.

Detailed images are more helpful and ideally required when you want to identify unknown individuals.

3. Vehicle Number Plate Recording: Having a record of who visited your site is generally useful.

Many installers will recommend a higher resolution like 4mp or 5mp to do the job.

But have you ever heard of ANPR and LPR cameras?
These are the best type of cameras to use when you want to read and store data of registration plates.

There are many more factors to consider.
