DOH UPDATES:

07/11/2021

As quarantine restrictions are being lifted gradually, let us all remember to avoid these 3 C's:
CROWDED, CONFINED and CLOSE-CONTACT SETTINGS.

With the highly contagious Delta variant, STAYING HOME is a must whether you are infected or not. Staying home protects you and others from spreading the disease as it limits exposure to others who may be carriers outside of the home.

Strictly adhering to the ISOLATION / QUARANTINE protocols protects others from catching the virus, whether you are symptomatic or not.

Here's a guide for determining your FREEDOM day after being exposed to, or after being Infected with the Covid virus.

A sharing from: Arch Jun Palafox from a Viber Group:

Arch Jun Palafox’, a known architect-urban planner, latest text message on his COVID-19 infection and hospitalization even when already vaccinated.
(Arch Palafox donated his services to design the Mega Vaccination Center only recently.)

“My 26 days of confinement, treatment, confinement due to COVID- 19 could have been more complicated and fatal if I was not fully vaccinated, according to the more than 11 specialists doctors that treated me so well at Makati Medical Center from July 1st to 26th, 2021.
My hospital bill -was more than P1.4 million. PhilHealth will cover only P171K, my insurance P200K, Senior Citizen discount P258K, the 11 specialists doctors were so kind, so generous and charged me only P43,000 , most of them charged only a token of P500 pesos.. At P1k per day x 26 days, I expected to pay the doctors P520k.. The doctors, the nurses, orderlies, even prayed for me and thanked me for helping our country.
My doctor-daughter also has a clinic at Makati Med, she is their young colleague and she helped, too..

So many prayed for me-friends, family, Catholics, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists. The Chief Architect up there, Creator of the Universe, our Redeemer, gave me a second life, deepened my faith. Before I sleep and every morning when I wake up, I thank God for His many blessings/gifts of life, faith, family, friends, and for the free oxygen in the air that I breathed for the past more than 71 years and for the rest of my life.

Please stay safe everyone. Be vigilant, be very careful.. I was rather complacent when I attended a Thanksgiving Dinner, where only fully vaccinated guests were invited in a grand ballroom of a hotel last June 25, five days before July 1st. My doctor-daughter Katrina brought me to Makati Med Ctr. ER. Spent 22 hours at the ER before a hospital room was made available.

I’m sharing you this for all of us to learn, to be vigilant. Thank you for the opportunity to share.. Be blest everyone.”

Ingat po tayong lahat sa baha.....

6.73% of Filipinos fully vaccinated with 15 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered 22/07/2021

HERD IMMUNITY occurs when a large portion of a community (the herd) becomes immune to a disease, either through INFECTION or VACCINATION. It makes the spread of disease from person to person unlikely because of the protection from the antibodies that have developed inside each person. As a result, the whole community becomes protected — not just those who are immune.

WHO supports achieving 'herd immunity' through vaccination, not by allowing a disease to spread through the population, as this would result in unnecessary cases and deaths.

What percentage of a community needs to be immune in order to achieve herd immunity? It varies from disease to disease. The more contagious a disease is, the greater the proportion of the population that needs to be immune to the disease to stop its spread.

According to health experts, at least 60- 70% of the entire population needs to be vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity against the original Covid virus strain in our country. However, with the onset of the highly contagious DELTA variant, studies now show that 80-85% of our population needs to be vaccinated....

So, if 6% of Filipinos have already been vaccinated after 4 months, how long will it take for the herd immunity to happen in our country? Do the math.🤔 .....Go out and get that jab!

6.73% of Filipinos fully vaccinated with 15 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered The official figures as of July 18 mean some 6.73% of the government's target, or 4,708,073 Filipinos have completed their two doses.

HERD IMMUNITY also known as 'population immunity', is the protection from an infectious disease that happens when a population is immune either through vaccination or through previous infection.
WHO supports achieving 'herd immunity' through vaccination, not by allowing a disease to spread through the population, as this would result in unnecessary cases and deaths.
The following are the results we gathered for the month of July, showing the number of our CFC brethren who have received their covid vaccines. It is the hope of the East B MedCom to increase the awareness of our members regarding the importance of getting vaccinated, especially at this time that we are again threatened by another Covid surge from the Delta variant.
Please continue observing health protocols, and have yourselves and your loved ones vaccinated. The virus ends with us.

The VIRUS ends with US.

BREAKTHROUGH INFECTION: is a case of illness in which a vaccinated individual becomes sick from the same illness that the vaccine is meant to prevent

PELTZMAN EFFECT or Risk compensation theory: suggests that people typically adjust their behavior in response to perceived levels of risk, becoming more careful where they sense greater risk and less careful if they feel more protected.
Halimbawa: Pagpaparty at pamamasyal sa mall matapos mabakunahan

COVID-19 vaccines are effective. However, a small percentage of people who are partially or fully vaccinated will still get COVID-19 if they are exposed to the virus that causes it. These are called “vaccine breakthrough cases.” This means that while people who have been vaccinated are much less likely to get sick, it may still happen. COVID-19 vaccines protect against serious illness, complications and death. Full immunity takes at least 2 wks after full dose has been injected. Scientific studies are still on the way to confirm if transmissibility can still continue and vaccinated people can still pass on the infection to others during such time.

Therefore, we should all continue following the health protocols even after we get our jabs.

Covid is hitting our homes. The battle is not just between the virus and the medical front liners anymore. Having this in mind, the EastB MedCom was formed under the initiative of our dear Tita Doc Elen Panlilio Solis. Health professionals from our sector work hand in hand with the cluster heads to reach out to our Covid positive brethren to provide guidance and support. Soon, our CFC COVID KITS will be available for infected members of our community. These home care kits will be helpful as they go through their 14-day home isolation. However, since the purchasing/ procurement of items is centralized at the main office, distribution might take a while. Thus, it has been decided by our Sector leader, Tito Jojo Solis, that a Covid Ayuda of Php1,000 will be offered to our infected brethren just to extend a little support during their 14-day quarantine while the Covid kits are not yet available. The Sector is also donating a Covid Hospital Assistance ayuda of Php 5,000 for those who are hospitalized due to moderate/severe progressive symptoms. And in the event that a brethren dies from Covid, the sector will be donating a Php2,000 ayuda to the bereaved family. For questions, and for more details/updates, kindly get in touch with your respective Cluster leaders.

For COVID POSITIVE patients who are asymptomatic or who present with mild symptoms, a 14-day isolation at home or in a quarantine facility is needed to prevent the transmission of the virus to others.

After 14 days, if the patient continues to show no symptoms or, if the symptoms improve with no fever for 3 days (off anti-fever meds), the patient is usually NO LONGER CONSIDERED INFECTIOUS even if still RT-PCR positive.

the benefits outweigh the risks..... Vaccines work.😀

QUARANTINE VS ISOLATION?

QUARANTINE: for those who have been in close contact with a person who tested positive for Covid
: should stay home for 14 days, and stay away from people who are at high rish (elderly/immunocompromised)
: watch out for Covid symptoms like fever
: may undergo Covid testing 3-5days AFTER being exposed to the Covid positive patient (**having the test too early may give a FALSE NEGATIVE result)

ISOLATION: for those who tested POSITIVE for covid infection
: should stay in a "sick room" away from other people and from pets for 14 days , preferably with a separate toilet/bathroom
