Breast cancer awareness month is an international campaign to raise public knowledge of breast cancer. In the Philippines, it ranks number 1 in incidence and #2 in mortality so awareness that goes hand in hand with early detection is crucial. Breast cancer that is detected in the early, localized stage has a 99% relative survival rate (National Breast Cancer Foundation, nd).

I.E. Medica Oncology business unit recently joined the 38th Annual Convention of Philippine Society of Medical Oncology and launched its iCAN (I.E. Medica’s Cancer Assistance and Navigation) Patient Support Program.

During the convention was a forum on Approaches to Novel Therapeutic-induced Cardiac Dysfunction: Clinical Experiences and Recommendations led by Dr Priscilla Caguioa, Chief of UST Hospital Section of Medical Oncology and SLMC QC and Dr Katrina Tan, Section Head of SLMC Cardio-Oncology Clinic and moderated by Dr Joseph Tovera, CEO & President of Allied Medical Experts (ACE) Medical Center Palawan.
