Vientiane, Lao PDR—On October 11, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque accompanied President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. for the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-United States Summit.

The President was also joined by House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo, Secretary of Social Welfare and Development Rex Gatchalian, Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro, and Philippine ASEAN National Organizing Council Director General Celia Anna Feria.

During the summit, leaders welcomed the adoption of the 2024-2025 ASEAN-US Trade and Investment Framework and Expanded Economic Engagement Work Plan. Notably, this framework and plan includes the Philippines' proposal to advance cooperation on competition and consumer protection—key to promoting digital trade, was included in the Framework and Plan. The proposal received strong support from ASEAN countries and the US. 🇵🇭

Today, Franklin looks back to their journey with pride. From a shared studio to a studio space of their own, they have expanded to better cater to their customers’ diverse needs. From initially handling all aspects of the business himself, the business now employs both part-time and regular employees to help complete tasks more efficiently. This has allowed them to serve more clients, improve services, and offer a wider range of services. Franklin’s experience with the KMME program and other DTI initiatives has been a cornerstone of their success, demonstrating the power of education and support in entrepreneurship.
