Supporting Innovation
The De La Salle University Innovation and Technology Office (DITO) was established in 2011 as part of a project of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines to set up patent libraries within universities and higher education institutions. These libraries were meant to strengthen local institutional capacity to access patent information for use in research, education, innovation, and business strategy. They also provided patent services (e.g. searching, drafting, prosecution, management) for the community.
Over the years, the role of the Office has been expanding to meet new innovation challenges. Today, it provides more comprehensive innovation support services that extend beyond patents, and has taken on the technology transfer functions for De La Salle University.
We support innovators, and we take the steps necessary to bring university-developed innovation to the people and communities that need them the most. We do these by providing intellectual property (IP) services, delivering IP-based and entrepreneurial education, helping teams devise IP protection and commercialization strategies, connecting teams with gap funding opportunities, and finding potential licensees for IP in the industry or startup ecosystem.
