Nutrient inadequacy, including overweight and obesity, are prevalent nutritional problems in the Philippines, according to the 2021 Expanded National Nutrition Survey (ENNS) of the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI).

Chronic energy deficiency (CED) pertains to low body weight and low energy stores resulting to limited physical capacity due to food deprivation over a long period of time.
As a stop-gap to CED, DOST-FNRI developed the Brown Rice Nutty Fruity Bar, a nutritious alternative snack for children, adults, and older persons.

PS: Fyi the number of servings per bottle is 1.4 since one serving is only equivalent to 250 mL but the product contains 350 mL. So if you are going to consume the whole product you will get 4.2 kcal and not 3 kcal.

Had the opportunity to attend the 74th Diabetes Workshop and 39th Diabetes Forum at The Pavilion at the Watergate Hotel, Butuan, Agusan Del Norte last June 6-7, 2024.
This workshop is memorable for me as this is the first workshop i attended as RND. It feel so surreal that in the midst of the crowds full of doctors, nurses, pharmacist and dietitians and im proud to say that i finally one of them.
Aside from that i had also the opportunity to meet my mentor again (Maam Jean, Maam Pealr and Maam Lee) and i cannot deny the fact that they are one of the reason where i am today. I had also had the opportunity to mingle again with my former classmates now my co-RND's , imagine attending the workshop not as a student anymore but professionals (what an answered prayer โจ)
All I can really say is that there is still a lot to learn about diabetes, and nutrition is a major factor. From its causes to its management, diet takes a primary role. Preventing and managing diabetes needs a multidiciplinary approach so if you are a person at risk or already have diabetes and haven't consulted a healthcare professional yet, this is your sign! Let's prevent diabetes and prevent it from getting complicated.

This is my take on the Yakult video that went viral, claiming the product is only allowed to be drunk by people aged 19-29 years old.
The FDA Philippines mandated a policy through FDA Circular 2023-009 stating that the computation of energy and nutrient levels of a product shall be based on the caloric requirement for males, 19-29 years old, and children, 6-9 years old, if the product is intended for children. The age group used as the basis for the computation must be indicated in the nutrition facts table. Thats why po may nakalagay na 19-29 years old dun sa yakult ๐
Again po ang nutrition facts na nakikita natin sa likod ng mga food product ay nakabase po ito sa specific na age group pero hindi po ibig sabihin na ang age na naka indicate dun ay iyon lang ang pwede maka inom or makakain sa produkto.
