Rotary Club of Gingoog Bay Donates Books to DepEd Gingoog City

July 29, 2024, Gingoog City – In a significant contribution to local education, the Rotary Club of Gingoog Bay has handed over a substantial collection of books to the Department of Education (DepEd) Gingoog City. The handover ceremony, held earlier today, underscores the club's commitment to fostering education and literacy within the community.

The donated books, covering a wide range of subjects and reading levels, are expected to enhance the resources available to students and educators in the city. Rotary Club President Daisy Acero emphasized the importance and their support to education.

SDS Edgardo V. Abanil, CESO V expressed his gratitude for the donation, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the educational landscape.

DepEd Gingoog City Conducted MATATAG Curriculum Training for Private School Leaders and Teachers

Gingoog City, June 21, 2024- DepEd Gingoog City successfully conducted the MATATAG Curriculum Training for private school leaders and teachers from June 18 to 20, 2024 at Eastland Restaurant and Mountain Air Hotel. The three-day training aimed to equip educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively implement the MATATAG curriculum in their respective schools.

Participants engaged in a series of comprehensive workshops and interactive sessions led by experienced educators and curriculum experts. These sessions covered a range of topics, including innovative teaching strategies, curriculum design, assessment methods, and integrating technology in the classroom.

The training emphasized hands-on activities and collaborative learning, allowing participants to share best practices and develop actionable plans tailored to their school environments. Attendees also had the opportunity to network with peers, fostering a community of support and continuous professional development.

The groundbreaking ceremony at Sagu-ilaw Ta Kabuka Elementary School for the construction of a one-story, four-classroom building on June 4, 2024, was indeed a momentous occasion, especially considering the significance of the project within the Last Mile Schools School Building Project funded by DepEd Central Office.

As one of the six schools selected as recipients out of the 3500 schools in Region 10, the event drew attention not only from local stakeholders but also from the broader educational community. The presence of key figures such as the Schools Division Superintendent, Edgardo V. Abanil, CESO V, and other officials underscored the importance placed on this initiative.

The diverse group of attendees, including tribal leaders, members of the Sin-ingan Clan, stakeholders, and parents, reflected the collective interest and investment in improving educational infrastructure and opportunities for the community's children.

The ceremony itself, starting with the traditional "Singampo" ritual, added cultural significance and respect for local customs. Following this, the Program Proper likely featured speeches acknowledging the collaborative effort behind the project, recognizing contributions, and emphasizing the positive impact the new building will have on the school and its community.

As a means of continuously building up the child protection capacity of the Department of Education (DepEd) personnel, the DepEd Learner Rights and Protection Office (LRPO) and Stairway Foundation would like to announce the offering of the second batch of the LRPO-Stairway Child Protection E-learning Course for Educators.

This free course will officially start on May 13, 2024, and will run until June 30, 2024.

Delivered as a fully asynchronous and self-paced course, it offers ten (10) CPD points to Licensed Professional Teachers (LPT) for successful course completers.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks Milestone for Education in DepEd Gingoog City

Gingoog City, May 10, 2024- Gingoog City boasts a diverse educational landscape, comprising both public and private institutions. The Schools Division Office of Gingoog City is proudly serving 97 public schools with 64 elementary schools,16 secondary schools, 17 integrated schools and 16 private institutions.

With a vision for efficient service delivery and a commitment to excellence and make SDO Gingoog City a pride not just in the whole Region X but in the entire Philippines, the plan for a new division office has materialized, marking a significant step forward in realizing the city's educational aspirations.

On this day, May 10, 2024, a long-held dream comes to fruition as the groundbreaking ceremony commenced for the new DepEd Gingoog City Office at Civoleg, Brgy. Lunotan, Gingoog City.

Leading the capsule laying were Gingoog City Mayor Erick CaΓ±osa, joined by members of the city council including Vice Mayor Thaddeus Lugod, SDS Edgardo V. Abanil, ASDS Myron Gil Talosig, CTD Chief Pablito Altubar, Brgy. Captain Ma. Cristina Dumaluan, and DPWH representative Joseph Palima.

From its humble origins as a municipality in Misamis Oriental to its evolution into a chartered city and later a regular division, Gingoog's journey symbolizes the community's aspirations for increased autonomy and self-governance in educational matters. Social Development Committee Participates in 'Pakighimamat' Event at Civoleg Integrated School

Gingoog City, May 9, 2024-The Social Development Committee (SDC), comprised of undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, regional directors, and heads of offices representing both national and regional SDCs, conducted a short visit today at Civoleg Integrated School. Part of their itinerary included engaging in a 'pakighimamat' with the local community.

Established under the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Board, the SDC plays a pivotal role in advising the President and the NEDA Board on a wide spectrum of social development matters, encompassing education, health, housing, and human settlements. Moreover, it coordinates the activities of government agencies pertaining to social development and recommends policies and programs that align with national development objectives.

Attending the event were NEDA Undersecretary and SDC Chairperson, Rosemarie G. Edillon; Edgardo V. Abanil, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd Gingoog City; Myron Gil D. Talosig, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent; School Head Jusua Saluta; members of the Barangay Council, led by Barangay Captain Ma. Cristina Dumaluan; and tribal leaders.

This assembly pledges to be a significant platform for dialogues and partnerships aimed at propelling social development initiatives in the local community and beyond.

GINGOOG CITY DIVISION Shines in Regional Schools Press Conference 2024

Gingoog City, May 6, 2024- In a celebration of literary talent and journalistic prowess, the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) 2024 witnessed the triumph of Gingoog City Division, with its students clinching top honors in various individual and group events.

This morning during the Monday convocation, the Schools Division of Gingoog City acknowledged the achievement of our student-journalists.

In the elementary category, Gingoog City Division participants showcased their skills in both English and Filipino languages. Noteworthy achievements include Nessy Ruby P. Baranggan from DRBCS, securing the 5th place in Science Writing, and Jeshui Von Louis M. Ganzon from CKC, claiming the 3rd place in Photojournalism. Additionally, Jonas V. Paler from DRBCS and Joy NiΓ±o, Jr. M. Briones from Bal-ason CS secured the 4th place in Editorial Cartooning and Sports Writing respectively.

For the secondary level, George Newton T. Ty from GCCNHS led the pack with a stellar performance, clinching the 1st place in Column Writing (English). Joining him in the limelight, Ma. Angella D. Lacaran from GCC secured the 2nd place in Column Writing (Filipino), while Rich Yeed Jacinto from GCCNHS claimed the 2nd place in News Writing. Not to be outdone, Christy A. Guno from GCCNHS showcased her talent with a 4th place win in Sports Writing.

The collaborative efforts of Gingoog City Division were also highlighted in group events. The MLCS Radio Broadcasters stood out, securing the 3rd place in Overall Radio Production (English), with Mycah M. Villesas named as the 3rd Best News Presenter and Rheimiel Serah Sofia D. Calibo as the 4th Best Anchor. The MLCS Radio Broadcasters also excelled in Technical Application, attaining the 5th place. In the Filipino category, MLCS Radio Broadcasters secured the 4th place in Overall Radio Production.

Furthermore, GCCNHS showcased its prowess in group events, with its Radio Broadcasters securing the 5th Best in Script Writing (English) and the 3rd place in Best in Script Writing (Filipino). Their collaborative efforts in Desktop Publishing also bore fruit, earning them the 2nd place in the Secondary (Filipino) category.

The outstanding performance of Gingoog City Division in the RSPC 2024 not only highlights the students' dedication and talent but also underscores the commitment of their coaches and schools in nurturing literary and journalistic excellence. As they bask in the glory of their achievements, these young writers and broadcasters serve as inspirations to their peers, showcasing the power of words and the impact of media in shaping minds and perspectives.

Abanil, CESO V, had the privilege of exploring the intricate workings of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) at the Agusan del Sur Provincial Office on April 29, 2024. Under the gracious guidance of Governor Santiago B. Cane, this learning visit provided invaluable insights into the seamless integration of technology and human resources management. With gratitude in our hearts, we extend sincere appreciation for the opportunity to witness firsthand the dedication and innovation driving organizational efficiency and excellence in the province of Agusan del Sur.

28 April 2024 - In view of the latest heat index forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and the announcement of a nationwide transport strike, all public schools nationwide shall implement ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES/DISTANCE LEARNING on April 29 and 30, 2024.

Likewise, teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public schools shall not be required to report to their respective stations.

However, activities organized by Regional and Schools Division Offices, such as Regional Athletic Association Meets and other division or school level programs, to be conducted on the aforementioned dates may push through as scheduled, provided that measures for the safety of all participants have been carefully considered.

Finally, private schools shall not be covered by this advisory but shall have the option to implement the same.
