From March 14 onwards let all the bells of our churches be rung every twelve o’clock noon and eight o’clock in the evening to call all people to pray the ORATIO IMPERATA prayer to fight this virus. Let us join in this prayer.
Let families gather together at 8 pm to pray as a family for divine protection. After
the Oratio Imperata the families can pray the rosary and read the Scriptures. The
fervent prayers of all the people of God will draw us closer to him and away from
the scourge of this disease.

Don't make the same mistakes like we did here in Italy.

Being in Lockdown means you have to STAY AT HOME and AVOID at all costs going out.
No school or work doesn't mean a holiday or you can go out with friends or meet other people.
It has been proposed by the government and health officials for a purpose!

We have been there. We didn't listen. We continued to go out and meet people even though we were told not to. We underestimated the situation.
And look where we are right now. 10k plus of infected and we are Forced to stay at home.

Do not do the same mistakes like we did.
Stay at home while you are not being forced.
Do your job as a citizen.
Your role in obedience will lead a big impact to the Society.

It doesn't matter if your plans are or were cancelled.
Your life and health is more important than that.

EDITORYAL: HAPPY PA BA SA HAPPY ISLAND?

Ang sabihing maka-Diyos, masayahin, tahimik, at mapagparaya ang mga tao ng isla ng Catanduanes hindi isang kalabisan, bagkus ay isang bagay na maipagmamalaki. Gayunpaman, ang katotohanang ito ay patuloy na sinusubok ng panahon.

Noong maitayo ang standee ng slogan na Happy Island sa memorial park noong nakaraang Oktubre, tila ba naging katawa-tawa ang mga sumunod na pangyayari. Binayo tayo ng bagyong Ursula at Tisoy at naganap ang kahindik-hindik na krimen sa pagpatay ng dalawang g**o ng DepED sa magkahiwalay na okasyon na sumindak sa buong probinsiya. Sa isang balita, halos hindi na lumalabas kapag gabi ang mga tao sa sentro ng bayan ng Caramoran sa pagsapit ng dilim.

At noong ika-8 ng Pebrero, pinatay naman ang isa pang binatilyo na ang nakatatandang kapatid ay nauna nang napaslang. Ang krimen ay naganap sa pagitan lamang ng isang buwan at ginawa gamit ang magkaparehong modus – riding-in-tandem.

Ang sindak na ganito ay hindi na rin iba kung ikukumpara sa pagkakadiskubre ng mega shabu lab na sinundan ng pagpatay ng isang kilalang negosyante ng Virac ilang taon na ang nakakaraan ngunit hindi pa rin natutuldukan. Kamakailan nga lang ay naibalita naman ang isa na namang riding-in-tandem na bumaril sa isang municipal councilor sa bayan ng Caramoran. Kung idadagdag pa natin ang isyu-politikal, malamang ay magiging palaisipan sa bawat isa sa atin ang slogan na Happy Island.

Sa isang dako, ang konsepto ng Happy Island ay matagal nang nakatanim sa ating komunidad bago pa man maimbento ang slogan na ito. Dahil nga rito sa isla, malayo at malaya tayong namumuhay sa isang payapang komunidad na hindi masyadong bukas sa impluwensiya ng mga kalunsuran. Ilang beses na rin tayong naisali sa pinakamahuhusay na probinsiya sa larangan ng peace and order sa buong Bikol at naisali rin sa 42 probinsiyang inilarawang “peaceful and ready for development.”

Ang kapayapaan ng isang komunidad ay isang yamang hindi matatawaran ng materyal na bagay o kahit pa dagling kaunlaran. Malinaw ito sa mga Catandunganon at ang simbolong ito na pinakita sa pagbantayog at paninindigan ng isang slogan na kayang pangatawanan ng bawat isa. Sa sikolohikal na aspeto, mayroon tayong kolektibong kamalayan na matagal nang nakaugat sa ating kaisipan. Isa itong mainam na sandalan upang mapangalagaan ang konsepto ng payapang komunidad.

Maaaring sinusubok tayo ng pagbabago ng panahon. Sa kabila ng pagsubok na ito, ang sektoral na partisipasyon ng mga pamahalaang lokal, kapulisan, simbahan, pamayanang sibil at iba pang ahensiya kasama ang ating kamalayan ng isang payapang probinsiya ang magpapanatili sa ating natutunang konteksto ng payapang isla.

Alam na natin ang pamamaraan kung paano napanatili ang kapayapaan na ating natatamasa sa loob ng mahabang taon. Dahil tayo na mismo ang happy island, tayo rin ang bubuo ng happy island.
