Mr. Zain Abid, a recent graduate from the FSc Section F (Model Section), has achieved the remarkable feat of securing the 2nd position in the MDCAT test conducted by KMU on November 26, 2023. This test is a crucial step for admission to medical colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

GPGC No.1, Abbottabad, Secured the First and Second positions in the Inter-Hazara Haroon Rasheed Bilingual Declamation Contest 2023, which took place at COMSATS University, Abbottabad Campus. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Miss Mursil (BS English, First position) and Mr. Hisham Tanveer (BS Political Science, 2nd Position) for their exemplary performances, which have brought immense pride to our institution.

Study tour of BS botany 7th semester was arranged on November 2nd under the supervision of worthy Hod Prof Dr. zafar Jamal . Students were also accompanied by Prof.zahid Akbar and Prof. adeeb Muhammad. Tour began from lalazar national park and culminated at mushkpuri top. Students explored vegetation and collected different plants of the area. Students also went to GDC Nathiagali to meet students of botany department to discuss and explore new ideas .

The English Literary Society conducted its third literary seminar of the session 2023-24 today. The specified book was "The sorrows of young werther" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe . The principal speaker for today's seminar was Hassan Javed (English 7th sem).
Ayesha Abbasi ( English 3rd sem) served as the host for today's event alongside her co-host Laiba ( BS English 3rd sem) .

The seminar commenced with the Introductory remarks by Anas Sher Muhammad ( English 7th sem) regarding the book, who expressed his admiration for Goethe and shared the instant impact of this book on his life. After that the main speaker, Hassan Javed, comprehensively talked about the book with respect to the author's background, and its impact on his own life and the society in general. He also mentioned Goethe's philosophy to understand the dark side of human emotions.

Post presentation, the speaker addressed the queries of the audience with authority, in a very fruitful Question and Answer session.

New Hostel, 2nd Merit List

English Literary Society conducted its second literary seminar of the session 2023-24, on the Book "Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka on October 25, 2023. The main speaker, on this occasion, was Syed Muhammad Abu Bakr from BS English (7th semester).
Ayesha Rafique from BS English (5th semester) hosted the event . The seminar commenced with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran. Professor Kashif Shah opened the seminar with his introductory remarks regarding the topic.
After that the principal speaker, Syed Abu Bakr, was given the stage to present his topic before the audience. Abu Bakr presented the book in a comprehensive manner with various literary perspectives.
Post presentation, in a very fruitful question answer session, the speaker addressed the queries of the audience in an eloquent way.
Prof Sajjad Haider Naqvi delivered the concluding remarks regarding the prescribed topic and also recited a poem of Faiz Ahmed Faiz which resonated with the themes of the book.

NEW HOSTEL, MERIT LIST

The 51st Annual Convocation of Government Postgraduate College No.1 Abbottabad was convened today. We were honored to have Prof. Dr. Qasim Jan, Minister of the Higher Education & Elementary Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the esteemed chief guest. Additionally, we were privileged to welcome Prof. Faridullah Shah, Director of the Higher Education Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Vice Chancellor of Abbottabad University of Science and Technology as the distinguished guests of honor.

During this momentous occasion, we celebrated the achievements of approximately 300 graduates who were conferred with their Bachelor of Science degrees. Furthermore, we proudly recognized 14 students from various academic departments who excelled by receiving gold medals for their outstanding performance.

A special highlight of our ceremony was the recognition of two exceptional individuals, Mr. Hisham and Mursil, who emerged as the shining stars of GPGC No.1 Abbottabad. They were awarded certificates in acknowledgment of their remarkable performance in the recent Bilingual Declamation competition held at Army Burn Hall College Abbottabad. Notably, they achieved a historic victory by securing the Bilingual trophy for the first time in the history of our institution.

The event was graced by the presence of the Director and Deputy Directors of the Regional Directorate of Higher Hazara Region, the Registrar of AUST, Prof. Imran Javed, Controller of Exams at AUST, as well as respected ex-principals, the principals of JMC and Abbottabad, and the parents of our graduating students.

Minister for Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Qasim Jan, eloquently emphasized the importance of quality education in all educational institutions under the purview of Higher Education. He commended Government Postgraduate College No.1 Abbottabad for its exceptional role in providing affordable, high-quality education to every citizen.

The Vice Chancellor of Abbottabad University of Science and Technology emphasized the pivotal roles and responsibilities of our young graduating students, the significance of productive research work, and the importance of moral values in their future endeavors. He also praised the outstanding performance of GPGC No.1 Abbottabad.

Principal GPGC No.1 Abbottabad, Prof. Saeed Shah, provided the audience with an overview of the remarkable achievements of Government Postgraduate College No.1 Abbottabad in both academic and co-curricular activities. In his address, he proudly announced that, over the past three years, about 150 graduates of our college had been selected as lecturers through the KP Public Service Commission.

Congratulations are extended to our dedicated Principal and the entire organizing team for orchestrating a successful and memorable event. We look forward to continuing our journey of educational excellence and extending our best wishes to the students, who have graduated today from Government Postgraduate College No.1 Abbottabad.

Some glimpses of today's seminar, hosted by the COMPUTER SCIENCE department in collaboration with Upwards IO , held at Government Postgraduate College No.1 Abbottabad with the objective of narrowing the gap between academia and the software industry. The seminar provided valuable insights about the need of imparting practical expertise to graduating students, aiming to enhance their skills for the IT industry. Additionally, UPWARDS extended internship opportunities to students to further refine their capabilities.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the UPWARDS IO team for their time and effort in making this event possible.

English Literary Society (2023/24) arranged its first ever seminar on the topic " Book Review of The Lessons of History by Will and Ariel Durant" today on September 25, 2023. The Principal speaker, on this occasion, was Anas Sher Muhammad who is a student of BS English 7th semester.
The seminar got a start with a few verses from the Holy Quran. After that Prof. Nazir Ahmed gave an introductory lecture on the above mentioned book of Will Durant in a very beautiful and impressive manner.
After that Ayesha Rafique invited the main speaker to present his topic before the audience. Anas Sher talked at length about the 11 chapters of the book in a comprehensive manner. At the end he answered the questions of the audience in a lively question answer session.
The seminar was attended by the teaching faculty and students of Department of English.
At last Prof. Ahmed Nawaz highlighted the importance of such healthy and positive activities and urged the students to take active part in these co curricular activities.
