Namirah Jamshed, M.D, Director of Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program and an Associate Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, is going to have a meet and greet session with the students of Shifa College of Medicine, who want to
pursue their residency in USA.

Dr. Namirah is a chair for Association of Physicians of Pakistani descent of North America (APPNA) and is very active and supportive of youth and future medical professionals.

She is a graduate of Aga Khan University Medical College.

Shifa Student Society will be hosting her at Shifa College of Medicine.

Shifa Student Society arranged a medical camp in Dinga City, Gujarat, Punjab on 10th December, 2023 in collaboration with All Pakistan Students Union -APSU . At the medical camp, we provided free medical checkups, physiotherapy, blood sugar and Hep B/Hep C/HIV screening tests, counselling services and free medicines to over 350 patients.

We thank all the volunteers and doctors involved in making this humanitarian initiative a success. Here are some highlights of our efforts in contributing positively to society to ensuring healthcare is provided to all.

An enlightening session about "Islam & Modern Day Challenges" by Mrs. Muniza Javed took place at C-0 hall SIH on Friday, 17th November.

Our esteemed speaker engaged with women attendees, speaking that the true definition of success and solution to modern-day challenges lies within praying Salat and reading the Holy Quran with true intentions and commitment. She emphasized preparing for the Aakhirah/After-Life because in the end, one will be asked about their deeds, who their God and Prophet are, and whether they offered Salat. She highlighted that our medical profession is an act of worship and when you hear the Azan, whether you prioritize going for Salat or treating a patient, it shows where you think your success lies.

Furthermore, she emphasizes that the only reason for people not following Islam is either ignorance or arrogance, hence nourishment of the soul is vital for us all to lead a life that Allah wants from us according to the teachings of Islam so that we can face the challenges of today.

Alhamdulillah, we are honored to invite Mrs. Muniza Javed to Shifa to enlighten us with her talk on "Islam and Modern Day Challenges" at C-0 Hall in Shifa International Hospital on Friday 17th November from 10-11am.

Mrs. Muniza Javed was a banker by profession. After her transition towards the Deen, she quit banking and became an educationist. She completed her Master's degree in Business administration from Quaid e Azam University and taught Islamiat, Maths, and finance to ‘O’ and ‘A’ level university students. Later, she decided to quit that as well to fully pursue her Aalima degree in religion from Wifaq ul Madaaris Al Arabia, Multan and has the privilege of having scholars like Maulana Taqi Usmani as her guides and mentors.

She has been actively engaged in Da’awah work, teaching Quranic sciences for the last 20 years, and giving lectures to ladies at different forums.

Being a certified and accomplished scholar, she established Shaheed Junaid Jamshed Academy of Quranic Sciences to continue the legacy of her late brother Junaid Jamshed, may Allah bless his soul.
