Young Engineers Development Committee [YEDC] initiated "Professional Skill Development Training Program - PSDTP" for Young Engineers in October 2023.

Engr. Mohammad Najeeb Haroon, appreciated the efforts of Convener YEDC and his team for the Professional Skill Development Training Program [PSDTP] for to ensure employability of Young Engineers thorough capacity building programs and such professional trainings.
Further, Chairman PEC also emphasised to organise such training programs throughout Pakistan in all major cities under YEDC through its initiative of Professional Skills Development Training Program (PSDTP).

Engr. Mohammad Nasir Khalily assured to organise such Skill Development Training Programs along with Soft Skill Programs, Sports & Cultural activities to encourage healthy competition & to promote confidence among Young Engineers.

The Young Engineers Development Committee (YEDC)-PEC organized a training session on "Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) for Engineers [0.5 CPD]," conducted by Uroosa Mohsin, an International Certified Trainer & NLP Practitioner, at Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi on Saturday, 14th October 2023.
This session was attended by over 350 young engineers, who found it to be a valuable brain-training experience.

Further, the Young Engineers expressed their appreciation for the NLP training session and requested YEDC to arrange more such programs.
Engr. Mohammad Nasir Khalily, the Convener of YEDC, commended the interest of participants (Young Engineers) for the development of the Engineering Community.

In addition, several members from YEDC-PEC, including Engr. Dr. Zubair Shaikh, Engr. Mohsin Ali Khan, Engr. Mohabbat Marri, Engr. Sheema Ghani Engr. Danish Ibrahim, Engr. Abdul Haseeb Mansuri, Engr. Humayon Kakar, and Engr. Nazish also attended the event.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Engr. Wasif Nazar Siddiqui, the Hon. Secretary of Association of Consulting Engineers Pakistan (ACEP).

Furthermore, Young Engineers Development Committee [YEDC] initiated "Professional Skill Development Training Program - PSDTP" for Young Engineers on Saturday, 14th October 2023. More than 800 application were received from which 500 applications were finalised/approved after evaluation & scrutiny process.
Qualified participants awarded with the Confirmation Letters.
First PSDTP under YEDC will be conducted by NED Academy, NED UET, Karachi & will commence from End of October.
Training & Certification Fees/Cost of Rs. 40,000/- (per participant) will be borne by Pakistan Engineering Council.

Engr. Muhammad Nasir Khalily (Convener YEDC) interacted with Young Engineers, heard their problems/issues and also given way forward & resolutions.

Engr. Wasif Nazar Siddiqui being Hon. Secretary ACEP, assured YEDC to work together for Skill Development of Young Engineers. He also added that, ACEP will plan/execute Skill Development Training Program very soon in collaboration with YEDC-PEC.

The 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) was held on 1st October 23 in Quetta on Sunday. A large number of engineers from all over Pakistan participated the moot. A sizeable number of young engineers from every corner of Balochistan also showed up for the meeting.
The meeting presided over by Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council Engr Najeeb Haroon was graced by Balochistan Governor Malik Wali Khan Kakar, Minister for Education Qadir buzdar Minister information Jan Achakzai former mister Science and technology Changaiz Jamali and Senator Ruksana Zubari.
Engr Najeeb Haroon shared the performance of the Council during the last two years. He said over 2500 young engineers have been inducted in the industry under the Graduate Internship Program launched by the council. He further said this program would continue in the future.
Engr. Haroon said the council is trying its level best to attract young people to engineers education as this trend is on decline became of other professions fields in the education. In order to do so the Council has started STEM education to engage school going students so that the engineering education could be encouraged.
Engr. Haroon also shared the detail of the efforts that PEC has taken to tackle the issue if cost escalation of development projects in the country.
Talking about the issue of technologists, he said all three sections of engineering such as engineers, technologists and technicians have their separate domains. They shall continue playing their part in the development of the country.
He informed the moot of the performance of the Committees of the Council working in various sector.
Malik Wali Khan Kakar, Governor Balochistan said he was happy to see such a congregation of engineers in his province. We can make best use of engineers for Balochistan. We appreciate their expertise.
He said the engineers should play their part in renewable technologies and power as our province is facing very different situation in power sector. We are facing days of loadsheding in rural areas.
He called upon engineers to work for the people of Baluchistan.
He touched the quality of works and referred to issues developed in the dams during recent floods in Balochistan.
Being the Chancellor of universities, he stressed on research and development in the universities of Balochistan.
He said it's time to computerize every government department and the engineers must guide the public sector.
He appreciated the VCs of public Universities of Balochistan for their focus on higher education.

Engr. Zaheer Ahmed Warraich, Director General Pak PWD, recently paid a visit to the office of Vice Chairman Sindh Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Engr. Mukhtar A. Sheikh. During this visit, Engr. Mohsin Ali Khan and Engr. Abdul Rehman Shaikh, members of PEC Governing Body, were also in attendance.
Engr. Warraich took the opportunity to brief Vice Chairman PEC Sindh about the pressing issues faced by engineers serving in the Federal Government. Engr. Mukhtar Sheikh, in response, assured Engr. Warraich that these issues are already high on his and PEC's priority list. This includes addressing concerns related to time scales and technical allowances. Engr. Warraich expressed his gratitude towards Chairman PEC, Engr. Muhammad Najeeb Haroon, Engr. Mukhtar A. Sheikh (Vice Chairman PEC), and other officials for integrating Pakistan Public Works Department into the PEC GIT Program. He also promised that all selected engineers in this program would receive thorough training.
Furthermore, Engr. Mukhtar Sheikh requested Engr. Warraich to consider expanding this program to include offices of the Pakistan Public Works Department in other provinces of Pakistan as well. Engr. Warriach agreed to this proposal and assured Engr. Mukhtar Sheikh that he would encourage other provinces to participate in the PEC GIT Program. They scheduled a follow-up meeting in Islamabad for further discussions on this matter.
The meeting continued for an hour, and at its conclusion, Engr. Mukhtar Sheikh presented a shield to Engr. Warraich as a token of appreciation for his services. Additionally, PEC souvenirs were exchanged as a gesture of goodwill and collaboration between the two organizations.

PEC GIT Program Orientation and Placement Orders Ceremony

An Orientation Session and Placement Orders Distribution Ceremony for the PEC GIT Program took place at PEC Regional Office, Karachi on September 4, 2023. This event marked a significant milestone in the journey of aspiring engineers.

The event was graced by the presence Engr Muhammad Najeeb Haroon (Chairman PEC), Engr Mukhtar A. Engr Mukhtar A. Sheikh reaffirmed his commitment for the support of young engineers and advancing their careers. He highlighted PEC's efforts in creating job opportunities and urged engineers to maximize this chance.

Engr Syed Abdul Qadir Shah emphasized the importance of continuous learning and encouraged young engineers to absorb as much knowledge as possible. He underscored the significance of staying updated with the latest technological advancements in the field of engineering. He also recognized that this program is a valuable stepping stone in their careers and advised them to make the most of it. Engr Abdul Rehman Shaikh, in his welcome note, thanked all the distinguished guests for their presence. He also acknowledged the challenges faced by the engineering community and the importance of addressing them promptly.

Engr Mir Masood Rashid elaborated on the vision and scope of the PEC GIT Program and commended Vice Chairman PEC Sindh for his dedicated efforts in ensuring its success. He also recognized Khuram Nabi Shaikh (Regional Coordinator PEC GIT Program-Sindh) for his dedication.

An Article of Understanding (AOU) was inked between Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and Pakistan
Public Works Department (South) at PEC Regional Office, Karachi On 15 August 2023 for PEC GIT Program.

Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) has been signed on 19th January 2023 in between Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and Office of Chief Engineering Adviser/ Chairman Federal Flood Commission (FFC), Ministry Of Water Resources, Islamabad for strengthening of Pakistan National Committee on Large Dams (PANCOLD).

Both Parties (PEC and O/o CEA/CFFC) agreed to work together for value addition, strengthening and sustainability of Pakistan National Committee on Large Dams (PANCOLD) and to make PANCOLD a vibrant and fully functional entity for effective representation of Pakistan’s water issues in particular those associated with planning, design, construction, operation and overall management of large dams etc.

Engr Mukhtar A Sheikh Vice Chairman PEC Sindh distributed placement orders among selected engineers under PEC OJT Program at PEC Regional Office Karachi.
These engineers were selected by Atif Nazar Associates, SAF International and Karachi Shipyard Engineering Works Limited.
During this session; Engr Mukhtar A Sheikh congratulated the selected engineers and emphasized them to work hard and take the maximum advantage of this opportunity. He also informed them about latest initiatives taken by PEC for young engineers and their development like Capstone project and Final Year Project Program where PEC is funding the engineering students for their final year projects.
Young engineers appreciated the measures taken by PEC Chairman Engr Najeeb Haroon and also the efforts taken by Engr Mukhtar A Sheikh in his personal capacity and assured him that they will work hard and will not waste this golden opportunity provided by PEC.
Engr Mohsin Ali Khan (Member Governing Body PEC) informed that still the moment more than 300 hundred engineers only in Sind have been placed in different companies successfully. And hopefully 500 more engineers will be given this opportunity only in Sindh.
Engr Abdul Rehman Shaikh (Member Governing Body PEC) also emphasized young engineers to work hard and learn new skills so the standards of industry can be met up.
