A few years ago, I used to believe I wasn't good at managing things and lacked initiative. I lived by these thoughts without challenging them, staying in my comfort zone. However, after undergoing NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner training, I realized I needed to expand my comfort zone. I recognized these beliefs as limitations holding me back from reaching my full potential.

One of the fears people considering improving their self-esteem and boundaries struggle with is about being โselfishโ. Theyโre so not used to taking care of their own needs, expectations, desires, feelings and opinions (rather than expecting others to do so), and they worry that others wonโt manage or will feel neglected.
Selfishness is about lack of consideration for others. It has nothing to do with healthy self-esteem and healthy boundaries.

๐When you have healthy self-esteem and boundaries, you can co-exist with people. When you try to rule others in order to get what you want, that is selfishness.
๐When we base our expectations or entitlement about what we feel others should do on what we feel that weโve been and done, there is an element of selfishness in there.
๐If weโre in a relationship, romantic or otherwise, and we only or mainly consider our own feelings, opinions, needs, etc., and expect things to be done our way and on our terms, thatโs selfishness.
๐If we expect people to change because we feel that who they are is โwrongโ, this has an element of selfishness. Our expectations are based on our ideals around an imagined person, not who they actually are. Weโre not respecting the truth of who they are.
๐If we operate as if only our boundaries matter, this is selfishness. Healthy boundaries respect us and others.
๐If we focus on what we need, want, or expect without thought for the consequences on others, that is selfish.
If you have negative associations with self-care, as in literally, taking care of you in the day-to-day of your journey that is life, itโs important to note that improving self-esteem and having healthy boundaries is not a selfish pursuit.
Donโt get things twisted. There are plenty of people out there who do things for others and also take care of themselves.
Itโs not because they deprioritise their needs, desires, expectations, feelings and opinions, though. Instead, they remember that they have to take care of themselves and know their limits so that they can do what they set out to do.

Thankfulness is often tied to politeness, with society and many a childโs upbringing conditioning people to express thanks for a kind act โ either instantly (with words) or later (with another form of communication: email, card, phone call).
Thankfulness lasts for a short moment, often with little thought given to the act again once thanks has been shared. Showing that one is thankful is often easy to do, as it is a surface-level response. Few people find it hard to be thankful while Most consider it pretty simple.
Being "grateful" is a sense of thankfulness that comes from a ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ within, rather than a social norm response to a kind gesture. Being grateful, or having โgratitudeโ can be directed at not only people you appreciate but things that you feel have been of great assistance in your life.
For example, you can be grateful for your car that has supported you as you worked your way through college and achieved your degree. And you can be grateful for people like your mother who gave you guidance and good advice over the years. Both are worthy of gratitude! And this feeling comes from a deeper place within yourself or your heart.
So yes, there is a difference between being thankful and gratefulโฆ and itโs fine to be thankful. At the same time, we should strive to feel grateful, as gratitude is part of how we make sense of our lives and the people within it. When we keep it in the forefront, we are able to credit our loved ones with the appreciation they deserve.
Try making gratitude something you focus on and practice in a deliberate wayโฆwhether it is expressed outwardly or felt inwardly. It will change you and the relationships in your life for the better.

We deal with emotions including anger, sadness, fear, guilt etc. Everyone face such emotions and try to deal with it. We need to understand that these negative emotions are temporary and that state of being emotional shall pass.
Having such emotions is Ok, but sticking to them is unhealthy.

Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.
If someone insults you, what do you feel? Many people will say that being insulted makes them angry. However, very often what actually happens is that first the person feels hurt by being insulted, then we recognize weโve been hurt and get angry about it. The feeling hurt emotion lasts only a very short time before the anger kicks in โ as a secondary emotion.
Thatโs why I believe that dealing with anger is challenging, because it is sometimes difficult to identify the underlying emotion that is fueling the anger. If you or any of your loved one is going through such emotions and you are unable to figure out how to deal with it. Please seek professional help.
