Disaster Risk Management Society (DRMS) organized a successful plantation drive at New Campus, GCU (KSK).
The event saw participation from several esteemed members of the Geography Department, including Dr. Shakeel Mahmood and Yasir Usman, along with many other respected teachers and students, who joined us.
Planting over 20 trees and spreading awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.
Teachers and students came together to make a positive impact, recognizing that every tree planted is a step towards a greener, sustainable tomorrow.

The Disaster Risk Management Society (DRMS) successfully organized an impactful seminar on "Road Safety" in collaboration with Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Punjab at New Campus, GCUL. The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Secretary, PRCS Punjab Branch, and Trainers from National Headquarters, Islamabad, shared their valuable insights on the importance of road safety and the need of driving license.
The seminar concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Shakeel Mahmood and then participants received certificates and shirts followed by refreshment.
More than 100 students from various societies participated in the seminar.

Dr. Javed Iqbal was the guest speaker.
The Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Shazia Bashir Vice Chancellor, graced the occasion with her presence, praising the DRM Society for their initiative.

Disaster Risk Management Society Hosts Successful Eye Screening Camp and Myopia Awareness Week 2024.

The Disaster Risk Management Society organized a highly successful event, at the Youth Development Centre, focusing on eye health and myopia awareness along with a eye screening camp.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and national anthem, followed by a poster competition showcasing creative awareness messages on eye health and other diverse topics like eye anatomy, symptoms of vision issues, refractive error, myopia, digital eye strain, eye exam frequency etc. In the second phase senior opthalmologist Dr. Javed Iqbal delivered a insightful lecture on myopia and preventive measures for eye care. He also highlighted the impact of screen time effect our vision and how to reduce digital screen usage in daily life, engaging the audience with his expertise.

The eye screening camp was a the third phase of the event, providing free check-ups to attendees. The camp aimed to detect eye problems early on and provide guidance for treatment. The response was overwhelming, where more than 400 people such as students, faculty members and administrative staff took advantage of the opportunity.

The Chief Guest, VC Dr. Shazia, graced the occasion with her presence, praising the DRM Society for their initiative. The event aimed to raise awareness and promote preventive measures, making a positive impact on the community.

The session ended with a shield presentation to the honorable guests and certificates to the presenters and organizers of the event. Overall, the event was a great success, with attendees appreciating the informative lecture and the free eye screening camp. The DRM Society's efforts were commendable, and the event will surely have a lasting impact on the community's understanding of eye health.

Disaster Risk Management Society conducted one day training Session on "Use of SPSS for data handling in Disaster Management Research" Dr. Rubab Zafar was the host speaker and Dr. Muhammad Kashif was the guest speaker(Assistant Professor Dept. Of Statistics). Both of them briefed about the SPSS it's introduction and techniques that can be performed using this software.
