HISTORY OF MOHENJO DARO

Mohenjo Daro is an ancient city located in the Sindh province of present-day Pakistan. It was one of the major urban centers of the Indus Valley Civilization, which existed around 2500-1900 BCE. The city was discovered in the 1920s and is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the region.

The name "Mohenjo Daro" translates to "Mound of the Dead" in the local Sindhi language, reflecting the presence of large mounds that cover the ancient ruins. The city was built with sophisticated urban planning, featuring well-organized streets, advanced drainage systems, and multi-story brick houses.

The people of Mohenjo Daro were skilled in various crafts, including pottery, metalworking, and bead making. The city also had a complex social and economic structure, with evidence of trade networks extending to Mesopotamia and other regions.
