Sirbaz Khan made history by becoming the first Pakistani to climb all 14 of the world's summits taller than 8,000 meters (26,247 feet), achieving this feat by scaling Shishapangma, the 14th highest peak at 8,012 meters in Tibet.

Sirbaz Khan's journey to becoming a mountaineering legend began in 2016 when he started his climbing career. Hailing from Aliabad Hunza, he has consistently pushed the boundaries of what's possible in the world of high-altitude mountaineering.

In 2017, Sirbaz Khan achieved his first remarkable feat by summiting Nanga Parbat, one of the deadliest peaks, during the autumn season without using supplementary oxygen. This achievement laid the foundation for his ambitious Mission Summit 14 project.

This audacious project aimed to conquer all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks, known as the 'eight-thousanders.

Sirbaz Khan embarked on this challenging endeavor, with each summit marking a significant milestone:
1. Everest 8848m - Scaled in 2021
2. K2 8611m - Scaled in 2018 and again in 2022 without using supplementary oxygen.
3. Kanchenjunga - 202
4. Lhotse 8516m - 2019 without using supplementary oxygen.
5. Makalu 8463m - 2022 without using supplementary oxygen
6. Cho Oyu 8201m - 2023 without using supplementary oxygen.
7. Dhaulagiri 8167m - 2021

9. Nanga Parbat 8125m - Scaled in 2017 without using supplementary oxygen.

What makes Sirbaz Khan's achievements even more remarkable is that he accomplished many of these climbs without the use of supplementary oxygen. He became the first and only Pakistani to summit 10 of the 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen.

In recognition of his extraordinary feats, Sirbaz Khan received numerous awards, including the prestigious Pride of Pakistan award in 2022 and the Presidential Pride of Performance Award in 2023.

Looking ahead, Sirbaz Khan remains committed to his goal of completing all 14 8,000-meter peaks without supplementary oxygen within the next two years. He also plans to explore new routes and conquer virgin peaks, continuing to push the boundaries of mountaineering.

Additionally, he has embarked on the IFMGA certification (pre)training course, further enhancing his skills and expertise in the field of mountaineering.

The first ascent of Masherbrum, also known as K1, was made by a team of climbers led by the legendary British mountaineer George Bell in 1960. The successful expedition included climbers Joe Brown, Ian McNaught-Davis, and Mo Anthoine.

Masherbrum is located in the Ghanche District of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan's Karakoram Range. It stands at an impressive height of 7,821 meters (25,659 feet), making it the 22nd highest peak in the world.

Kristin Harila Summits the 14th 8000m Peak, Accomplishing Her Goal and Setting a New True Summit World Record along with Lama (Tenjin Sherpa)

Kristin Harila 14 Peaks K2 Summit
K2, Pakistan – July 27th, approx. 10:45AM – In an extraordinary feat of mountaineering prowess, Kristin Harila, the Norwegian adventurer, and her dedicated climbing partner Lama (Tenjin Sherpa) have successfully summited K2, the 14th and final 8000m peak, marking a historic milestone in their mountaineering journey.

The duo has set a new True Summit World Record of 3 months and 1 day (92 days), reflecting their unwavering determination, teamwork, and sheer tenacity throughout this monumental endeavour. Harila and Lama’s collaboration has showcased the essence of mountaineering unity, transcending borders and cultures to achieve greatness together.

Their journey began with the goal to summit the world’s most formidable peaks. Each mountain posed unique difficulties, yet their spirit and experience navigated them through every ascent, setting them apart as extraordinary alpinists. The mountains they have summitted this year are:

Kristin Harila, a native of Northern Norway with a passion for the outdoors ingrained in her soul from her upbringing in the landscapes of Finnmark, has constantly pushed her own boundaries to achieve what many deemed impossible. Her pursuit of breaking records has not only rewritten mountaineering history but has also served as an inspiration to adventurers worldwide. Kristin’s dad, a sportsman himself, says: “I am both proud and moved. But I am also worried for her, and I will be very happy once she comes down and comes home. I don’t think those of us, outside of the climbing community, fully understand the breadth of what she has accomplished. And I couldn’t be more proud of her.”

Lama (Tenjin Sherpa), an esteemed Sherpa from Seven Summit Treks, has been Kristin’s trusted companion on this extraordinary journey. Lama’s invaluable expertise and profound connection with the mountains have been integral to their success in navigating treacherous terrains and facing harsh weather conditions. Lama is from Makalu and has been a Sherpa since he was 16 years old. He lives together with his wife, Pema Yangi Sherpa, and their two teenage boys, Lhakpa Sangae Sherpa and Lhakpa Nurbu Sherpa, in Kathmandu.

As Kristin and Lama return triumphant from this historic journey, they express their gratitude to their supporters worldwide, and the mountaineering community for their unwavering encouragement and belief in their quest.

With the completion of the 14 Peaks this year, Kristin beats her own previous True Summit record of 1 year and 5 days in 1/4th of the time, improving her list of world records:
