Algae blooms are unavoidable natural phenomena that take place in aquatic environments like lakes, rivers, and oceans when algae experience an exponential expansion. Although algae are crucial elements of aquatic ecosystems, their rapid and unchecked growth can cause a variety of environmental, economic, and health issues.

India's ISRO is preparing to launch the Aditya-L1 solar mission on September 2, which will study the Sun's behavior and its impact on space weather.
Aditya L-1 Launch Date is 2nd September 2023 and this mission aims to study the Space Weather and Gases on Sun
The Aditya L-1 spacecraft is essentially a space telescope. Broadly, the Aditya L-1 mission has two purposes — long term (scientific quest) and short term (protecting our satellites).
There are five Lagrange points in the Sun-Earth system; Aditya is going to be positioned at Lagrange-1
The mission had its genesis in 2006, when a group of scientists from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics and the Astronomical Society of India made a presentation to ISRO, underscoring the need to protect satellites from ‘things’ coming out of the Sun. Back then, the idea was to put up a small satellite in the Low Earth Orbit, which would monitor the Sun, imaging it. But Prof U. R. Rao, a former Chairman of ISRO, suggested that the scope of the mission be expanded, and the spacecraft placed at Lagrange-1 point.
Scientists solve genetic puzzle of the ‘Y’ chromosome
Scientists have taken an important step forward in understanding the human genome - our genetic blueprint - by fully deciphering the enigmatic Y chromosome present in males, an achievement that could help guide research on infertility in men.
Researchers on Wednesday unveiled the first complete sequence of the human Y chromosome, which is one of the two s*x chromosomes - the X chromosome being the other - and is typically passed down from male parent to male offspring. It is the last of the 24 chromosomes - threadlike structures that carry genetic information from cell to cell - in the human genome to be sequenced.

A team of scientists at the University of California at San Diego, US have used CRISPR-based gene editing to create bacteria they believe can detect tumor DNA in the colons of mice. The researchers note that if the technology is applied successfully to humans, this would represent a non-invasive diagnostic tool that could identify cancer or pre-cancerous DNA. The study was recently published in the journal Science.
