Kalash Spring Festival - Chilimjusht May 13-16
This celebration is organized to pay thanks to the Almighty. The people celebrate the arrival of the spring season with new hopes and aspirations. Foreign and local tourists particularly schedule their visits in accordance with this festival, having specific aims to record various events of the festival.
During the festival, purity is paramount and celibacy is enforced throughout the days of the event so all the people will have a pure mind when Balomain visit the valley. All people must clean themselves in a ritual bath the week before the festival begins. During the men's purification ceremony, they may not sit down at all during the day and at night the blood of a sacrificed goat is sprinkled on their faces. Special bread is eaten, baked away from the main village, and prepared by men only during the purification ceremony. Another Bread, called jaou, is prepared for the festival and stuffed with crushed walnuts and goat cheese.
Special dance halls exist for the purpose of some of the dancing at festivals. They are decorated with carved and ornate wooden pillars and goat-like figurines. The music and dance is a performance of set songs: the cha or clapping song is the simplest one to a lilting dance, sung by the elders.

Istor o Nal is the 3rd highest mountain in the High Hindu Kush range, in the Chitral District of Pakistan. It is the 68th highest independent peak in the world. It crowns a massif with 11 peaks of elevation more than 7000 m (22986ft). The peak is located a few kilometers north of Tirich Mir. Because Istor o Nal is behind the highest peak of Hindukush (Tirichmir 7708m) from many viewpoints, it is not easily visible and therefore not well known.
The word "Istor o Nal" means horseshoe in the khowar language. Istor means, "horse" and nal means, "shoe" and the massif is look like a giant horseshoe.
The Americans Major Ken Bankwala, Josef E. Murphy, Jr, and Thomas A. Mutch, on a Princeton Mountaineering Club Expedition, first climbed Istor o Nal on June 8, 1955. They climbed the west ridge, starting from the south side of the peak through the Terich Glacier. Their small, minimally financed expedition (by the standards of the time for high altitude mountaineering) achieved what was then the second highest summit attained by Americans.
The main summit 7403m was climbed by a Spanish expedition in 1969 headed by Anglada. 2 of the 11 peaks are still unclimbed i.e. North East Peak 7276m and East Peak 7100m.
In the year 2000, a Swiss Expedition led by Simon Perritaz arranged an expedition for the unclimbed North East Peak 7276m with 8 other members; they could not gain the summit due to shortage of rope, time and mostly weather condition. The two peaks are still unclimbed and an obvious challenge for mountaineers.

Langutai Barfi 7017m was twice attempted by Polish Expeditions from the North Face without success that's why there are two opinions about its actual height. It is generally believed to have an altitude above 7000m or 7017m. Its South Face presents ideal alpine style climb via Roshgol Glacier - Terich Valley, but no climber has approached this peak from Roshgol Valley route. It has many positive sides that:
It is one of the most beautiful peaks of the Hindukush range and ideal peak for smaller expedition.

Other features of the peak are as follow:
• It is only 2 days trek from the jeep road.
• It is still unclimbed.
• Its South Face presents easy route and also very suitable for Skiing and Snow Boarding.
• It is still unexplored.
• Challenging rock walls of Langar Zom 6850 and Saraghrar West 7330m also flanks it. This rock wall is still unclimbed.

Raghshur - Lang Shar 6089m (Unclimbed)

Raghshur 6089m is an independent peak of Hindukush- Chitral, Pakistan. It stands just a few Kilometres away from Shagrom, the uppermost village of Terich valley-Chitral. Its east face is steep and rocky and the western side is suitable for climbing. It is accessible via Udren Gol.
It has many positive sides such as:

• It is one of the most beautiful peaks of the Hindukush range and ideal for smaller Expeditions.
• It is only 2 days trek from jeep road.
• It is still unclimbed.

The first known attempt on Raghshur 6089m was in August 1974 by a 10 members Italian Expedition, which was led by Edoardo Genero and was supported by Club Alpino Italiano, Section Pinerola. Other members of the expedition were Giorgio Griva, Michele Ghirardi, Paolo Strani, Paolo Ghersi, Piero Dassano, Ercole Cassale, Luigi Vignetta, Eraldo Quero and Giuseppe Morero.
On August 9 they reached at BC at 3140m. The next day the expedition fixed Camp I at 4451m. In two days they fixed 650 feet of rope and reached a col, where Camp II was pitched at 5403m.
On August 15 Griva and Vignetta set out to ascend the west ridge as a final attempt. At 5602m they found a vertical step of friable limestone, and then they turned back. The next day Ghirardi and Morero attempted the last ridge and the first rock tower but they gave up the climb because it required many more days than they had.
On August 17 Dassano, Quero and Moreno climbed another peak 5420m, near the col. They evacuated Base Camp on 19th August.
After 35 years, in August 2009, a three member Greek expedition led by Dr. Nikolas Kroupis came to scale the peak, hoping to discover a new route to the summit. The other members were Theodoros Christopoulos and Ioannis Kovanidis. The expedition was sponsored by Hellenic Mountaineering Federation.
On August 6, the team started their ascent from Advanced Base Camp at 4775m. Ice and soft snow upto 60 degrees led them to a col at 5530m, where they installed Camp I. Afterward they traversed from the north side, on the bottom of the tower for 60 meters … where they identified a possible route to continue. They descended to camp and returned the next day for a new attempt. Unstable snow and an impassable cornice turned them back.
The team confirmed that the most feasible route lies to the north after traversing 150m or so from the high point where they had reached, (over the west ridge).
