Children below three years are prone to putting toys (probably anything they found) in their mouth as means of exploring their surroundings. Toys can be fun and educational for children, this however comes with the of .
Here’s how you can check toys for choking hazards.
One simple way to test the toys at home is to perform a “Toilet roll test”. It is the easiest way to check toys for choking hazards.
Drop the toy or item through an empty toilet paper roll. If the toy goes readily through the toilet paper roll, it is too small for your child and might choke them. If the toy/item does not pass through the toilet roll and is age-appropriate then your child is safe.
This simple test makes it easy to eliminate items that represent a high risk of choking for children below three and must not be left unattended.
Small toys with small parts, marbles, batteries, pens, pencils, coins, screws, matchsticks, tissue, bottle caps, cords, strings, etc must be avoided at all costs.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that some toys pass the tube test yet still pose a choking hazard. Therefore it is crucial to be mindful and consult a professional if you have any reservations.

Fluoride is a very important mineral. Water contains some fluoride, but fluoride levels can vary depending on where your water comes from.
It’s added to toothpaste and water supplies because fluoride can help:
✅ Prevent cavities
✅ Strengthen weakened tooth enamel
✅ Reverse early tooth decay
✅ Limit the growth of oral bacteria
✅ Slow the loss of minerals from tooth enamel
⚠️ It rarely advisable for kids under the age of 6 to use mouthwash. There are two reasons for this: 1) Too much exposure to fluoride (contained in most mouth rinses) while permanent teeth are still developing can create a condition called fluorosis. Fluorosis creates unsightly spots or streaks on the teeth.

❓Ever wondered why the new permanent teeth have bumps on them?🤔
These bumps are called mamelons. They appear on the permanent incisors, that is the front 4 teeth of each jaw, when they erupt.
❓Why do teeth have mamelons?
Mamelons are a proof that teeth fuse together from lobes while developing under the gums.
❓Why don't adult teeth have mamelons?
Usually adult teeth don't have mamelons because they become straight due to chewing, grinding and speaking.
Some adults who have discrepancies like open bite or under bite do have mamelons.
❓Is there something wrong with your teeth if you still have mamelons?

Myth 3: Pregnant women should not see a dentist.
Pregnant women must visit a dentist in every trimester of their pregnancy to guide guidance regarding their oral health. They should tell their dentist about their pregnancy and seek help if needed.

Let's see what the tooth fairy has to say about knocked out tooth
Young kids usually knock out their teeth. The chances are more in boys than in girls. It's an alarming situation and the following steps should be taken
1. Don't panic
2. Find the tooth
3. If it's a baby (milk) tooth there is no need to replace is. Just clean the area of wound and do cold compress
4. If it's a permanent tooth remove the dirt from the tooth. Don't scrub the tooth and don't put it under water for too long
5. Always hold the tooth from the crown part. Never hold it from the root
6. Try to place the avulsed (knocked out) tooth back in it's socket. If you succeed then tightly bite on a handkerchief to keep the tooth in place. The earlier you fix the tooth the better are it's chances of survival
7. If you can't fix the tooth place it in milk. Don't put the tooth in water and don't wrap it in a tissue paper
8. Visit a dentist immediately

Kids generally fear going to the dentist, but for autistic kids dental visits can lead to anxiety and panic.
What adjustments can be made to make dental visits a success?
1. Preparation:
Prepare the child about the visit. Show him visuals of dental clinic. Learn about the sensory triggers that are disturbing for the child
2. Provide visual distractions to an autistic child
Give them stress balls or make them wear a VR headset to distract them
3. Timing the appointment
Long waiting in the clinic can cause anxiety. Give early morning appointments. Make autistic kids wait in a car instead of the clinic.
4. Caregivers should hold the child’s hand during treatment to reduce anxiety
5. Communication is the key. Talk to the patient. Avoid using metaphors because autistic kids tend to take every word literally
6. Make short appointments
7. Learn more about the child so the next appointment is even better
