Last summer, I decided to restore the old wooden deck in my backyard. It seemed like a fun DIY project at first. Little did I know what I had signed up for. The boards were weathered and worn, the paint chipped and faded. Sanding it down took days, leaving me with aching muscles and a layer of dust over everything. Then came the staining and sealing, which was a nightmare to get even. After countless hours and numerous trips to the hardware store, I was left standing on a deck that looked... well, not much better than when I started.
