Born in 1982, Aquarium hobbyist for about 12 years. In recent years, I have oriented my hobby towards planted aquariums, especially; Aquatic Landscaping, participating in international level competitions. In principle, the decoration of my aquariums was basic and simple, but my interest in discovering the different Aquascaping techniques, leads me first to the Internet, a site where I meet those who today are great companions, and then to the specialized bibliography in English , to treat each landscape, as a unique ecosystem. These concerns and this dialogue of knowledge have as a meeting point, Aquascaping Spain.

Unfortunately I had a few years break with this beautiful hobby but I came back to it more seriously in 2019, when I discovered that there is something like Aquascaping. We'd like to introduce you to the next EAC21 participant!
Meet Patrik Németh from Hungary💚

My name is Patrik Németh, I was born in Hungary, but for the last 13 years I have been living and working in Rust in Germany (Europa Park).
I was attracted to underwater life even as a little child, I had a 30l aquarium with Guppies, Xiphos. At the time, I didn't know much about this wonderful world. My first serious set-up was a 300 liter aquarium and I began to research more about how I could keep fish and plants as healthy as possible.
That's when I discovered Green Aqua and The Hungarian Aquascaping Forum, and for me that was the point of no return. I read 5 hours a day, because I was interested in everything: filtration, light, co2, fertilizing. Honestly, I owe the majority of my knowledge to the guys at Green Aqua and to the The Hungarian Aquascaping Forum they had created.
Later I came across the works of Takashi Amano, who was and still is a huge influence on me. I knew that's what I want to do, I was committed and driven to create beautiful scapes. The diversity and symbiosis of nature has always been enchanted, a perfectly functioning cycle.
I started to enter competitions. At the beginning with not much success, but as I progressed I was able to put together better and more beautiful scapes.
From the very beginning I tried to follow the Ada philosophy. For me, the Nature Aquarium Gallery is Paradise itself, and I had the chance to admire Master Amano's home and work.
I got to Lisbon where I could admire Amano sensei's last work. In 2018 I attended the IAPLC award ceremony in Japan to collect the recognition for my rank #19. The following year I participated as the first Hungarian aquascaper at the CINA Live Contest in China where I was ranked #8.
Through this wonderful hobby, I got to know many aquascapers from all over the world and made many new friends.
My favourite part of the work is designing a layout. I usually work with wood and stones, mosses, ferns, and Anubias but Crypts are my favourites.
Today I have 3 aquariums at home: a 45p, a 60p and the big brother 120 (120x60x45). I am looking for the opportunity to create more natural and beautiful scapes!
My aim is that my hobby should be my job, and do aquascaping full-time. Well, I am still working on that.

Allow us to introduce the next EAC21 contestant,
meet Marcos Ceprian from Spain💚

My name is Marcos Ceprian. I was born 45 years ago in Barcelona, Spain. Although I have always been surrounded by asphalt, from a very young age every opportunity to go out into nature was an opportunity to enjoy and have fun. I could buy my first aquarium when I was 20 years old, a small aquarium with cold water fish. Always with an eye toward fauna rather than flora, it wasn't until about 8 years ago that I discovered the fantastic world of planted aquariums looking for solutions to an algae boom in an aquarium forum. Thanks to these problems, an incredible world of shapes and colors opens up before me. From that moment, my passion changed towards the world of planted aquariums and it is in 2017 that I observe that there is another step in the evolution of this passion, aquascaping and national and international competitions. After participating in 2017 with a small nano aquarium just out of curiosity, it will not be until 2018 that I come into contact with a group of the best Spanish scapers and create my first serious scape. It is just at that moment where my madness begins, incomprehensible to out-of-this-world eyes, of mounting and dismounting every year.
When it comes to creating landscapes, I don't like to close myself to a single specific style. Because of my way of being I like to vary the materials every year, one year the heavy weight of the assembly falls on the rock and the other on the wood, but my main objective is always the same, a healthy planted aquarium, if that is not fulfilled premise, I do not consider the work finished.
In love with the colorful Brazilian landscapes, the elaborate details of the Asian forests and that love and respect for the nature of the Japanese school, can you really resist not trying something different every year? I can not resist it!

Here's the next talented Aquascaper to participate in the EAC21 competition!
Meet Nuno Matos from Portugal!

Hello everyone,
My name is Nuno Matos, I am 36 years old and I have had aquariums since I was a child, but in 2012 the hobby returned in a completely different perspective.

It was around this time and when I was in college taking my Architecture degree that I came in contact with the world of BIOTOPES and AQUASCAPING, following on one hand the work of MR. HEIKO BLEHER and on the other MR. TAKASHI AMANO.

At the time, I maintained aquariums, where I dedicated on to understand how plants developed in planted aquariums and on the other hand, I dedicated myself to learn everything I could about the species of fish that I maintained, even breeding some wild species of south american dwarf cichlids and pterophyllum scalare.

In 2013 it was the first time that I submitted my work to a competition in the BIOTOPE area, where I reconciled, the aesthetic part of the composition of AQUASCAPING combined with the knowledge and requirements that my fauna needed and its specific BIOTOPE. Obtaining a TOP 10 at AGA, in 2014 I again submitted my aquariums to AGA and BADC, obtaining another top 10 at AGA and 11th and 30th place at BADC, it was also the year that I submitted my first aquarium to the IAPLC having achieved a modest 218 position.

Due to the time I had to dedicate to college, I only returned to compete again at the IAPLC in 2016 having obtained my first top 127 being in 116th place.

After finishing my degree in Architecture, I worked for a while in the area where I graduated, but the hobby got the better of me, having started working for other aquarium stores in Portugal.

In 2018 I had the most incredible year regarding this wonderful hobby/lifestyle, in contests I’ve obtaining 3rd place EAPLC, 5th place WAC, 8th place CIAC, 10th place CBAP, 28th place IIAC, 32nd place IAPLC (disqualified for multi participation), 47th place RFLAC.

In that same year, together with the store where I worked, we managed to bring Mr. HEIKO BLEHER to Portugal, for a five day event around his life and work, an incredible person, having the privilege of visiting the Lisbon Oceanarium with him and see the exhibition “Florestas Submersas” by MR. TAKASHI AMANO, triggered my mind set to a point of no return.

It was in 2019 I founded AQUARIUM CRYSTAL Aquascaping Studio, which opened doors in 2020.

We'd like to introduce you to the next EAC21 participant!
Meet Marcin Zając from Poland 💚

He started his adventure with Aquascaping 15 years ago. Since then he has created over 200 different arrangements for private and many companies across Poland.
In 2016, he took part in the IAPLC international competition for the first time, where he won an honorable 67th place out of 2336 participants from 68 countries. In the same year, he entered the EAPLC, taking a high 7th place.
This was just a prelude to further success in the aquarium community.
In 2017, he made his debut in the Polish Aquascaping Contest, and he won it!. He repeated his feat a year later and improved his position in the IAPLC ranking by 6 positions, reaching 61st place.
The year 2020 was a breakthrough for him. He won not only the Polish Championship for the third time, but also reached for a unique trophy and an international record. He created the smallest aquarium in the World (beating the record held since 2011 by a Russian artist) with dimensions of 28x16x20 mm, which contained less than 9ml of water! Interestingly, he created in it an arrangement referring to the Polish mountain chain, with which he has been associated since childhood.

It's time to meet the next talented Aquascaper - EAC21 contestant!
Meet Efrain Sequera from Spain!

Hello!! My name is Efrain Sequera, I am 41 years old and I was born in Seville. I am a partner in a company of electrical and photovoltaic installations. My interest in aquariums comes from a very young age, although it was already in the 2000s with the arrival of the internet and after seeing the wonders of Master Amano that I became enthusiastic about the Nature Aquarium.

I started in the aquascaping competitions at IAPLC 2013 with an aquarium that was not designed to compete, obtaining a ranking 1122, and from there I improved every year, making a Rank 235 in IAPLC 2014 and Rank 70 in IAPLC 2015, getting into the top 100 For the first time, with this layout I also obtained top 10 in AGA 2015 and CBAP foreign category.

After this stage, I was unable to participate for a few years due to my continuous travels for labor issues. Finally in 2019 I returned to the competition this time at CIAC in which I obtained the 18th ranking and the possibility of traveling to Shanghai as the first classified Spaniard, it was an unforgettable experience for me in which I was able to meet great international aquascapers and that drove me to achieve my big dream in 2020, to be in the top 27 IAPLC and win my first Plate.

It is an honor to be able to compete now with great European aquascapers !!! I hope to be at height!!!! Good luck to all the participants !!!

Hola!!

Meet David Barandiaran from France 💚

Hello! My name is David Barandiaran and I am 44 years old. I live in the South West of France where the art of living is a religion (food, wine, party...). I am working as a Project Management Officer in an Automotive company (so far from Nature Aquarium).

Globally passions boost my life! Music, Cars, Motorcycle… And for sure the Aquarium!!!

I began to have an Aquarium when I was 10 years old. Since I was child, I have always tried to achieve a natural look in my tank. For sure, my discovery of Aquascaping early in the 2000’s changed definitively my vision of an aquarium (Takashi Amano San fan forever!).

I began late after discovering the discipline to participate in contests. I try to learn, read, practice… And finally, I started in 2016, and at the end I participated to several contest (IAPLC, AGA, EAPLC, IIAC, CAPA)

IAPLC 2016 rank #93

IAPLC 2017 rank #46

Best of Show CAPA 2017 with a Nano tank.

IAPLC 2019 rank #64

IAPLC 2020 rank #83

My favorite style is Riobuku and it must “stink” nature!!

Even if I participated in several live demonstrations and contests, generally I take a long time to finalize my Tank (between 7 and 8 months). EAC contest will be really challenging to succeed to have a mature Aquarium in 2 months!

I wish all the best to the other participants and be sure that one day we will meet and sheers together! Thank you to the organizers and sponsors who allow us to participate in this competition!

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the next EAC21 contestant!
Marian Sterian from Romania 💚

"Marian is a big fan of aquatic plants, a collector of the most spectacular varieties, very passionate about aquaristics and at the same time a perfectionist.
He loves to observe the plants' reactions under different conditions and hopes that somewhere in the future, he will be able to accumulate so much experience that the plants will grow as he sings to them 🙂.
He always has at least one experiment going on. Whether the plants will explode with beauty or die suddenly, he believes that the resulting experience will help him better understand the entire process.
As a plant lover, of course his favorite style is the Dutch one, but not long ago, he started flirting with the nature style or even a hybrid between nature and dutch.
This new passion was born in 2019 when he managed to qualify for the International aquascaping competition in China where he represented Romania at the LIVE stage, after which he also managed to qualify for the LIVE stage of the European aquascaping competition in Poland, things that made him want to learn even more about this style. This whole experience determined him to radically change his perception.
Apart from aquaristics, he loves animals, he likes to go fishing, he likes nature and he hopes that one day, humanity will become kind again.
Ohhh, and yeah, he hopes that one day, he will manage to clone himself :)"

It's time to meet the next talented EAC21 contestant!
Meet Thomas Oreskov from Denmark 💚

My name is Thomas Oreskov, age 47
My passion for aquascaping started years ago when I opened a book with a stunning picture of a Nature
Aquarium, created by the legendary Takashi Amano.
From that moment the first seed was planted, for a never-ending fascination for aquascaping.
I am lucky to be able to combine my passion for aquascaping in my daily work, as the owner of the leading
aquascaping related shop in Denmark, AmaZoonia. Here I do my best to share and hopefully inspire more
people to dive deeper into this wonderful world.
Aqua scaping has brought me around the world to fantastic places in Japan, Portugal, Germany, Sweden,
Hungary and with my qualification and participation in the live aquascaping event CLIAC 2018 in Guangzhou
China, as one of my best memories.
Everywhere I have met people sharing the same passion and love for nature and aquascaping.
Sadly, no gathering with my aquascaping family in Warsaw this time.
However, I am really looking forward to the “Home Edition”, with some of the best scapers in Europe.
Together but apart.
Shout out !! to the organizers and sponsors for making this event possible, despite the current Covid
situation.

I currently work as a Category manager in the 2nd largest store for the delivery of food and household goods in the Czech Republic Košík.cz. Most of all, I love my family - my wife and two princesses, but I also like to go to nature to take pictures. This is where I get inspiration for my aquariums. I am also very influenced by the world's top aquascapers and their work on the Internet. In my work I mainly use stones, but I have already built several aquariums even from roots. I like Aquascaping because it brings me relax, which I need because of my hard work, and for metting a lot of friends from all over the world. I have been involved in this hobby since 2011 and I competed for the first time in 2014 in the worldwide IAPLC.

This year, for the first time, I tried the position of a judge in the competition for the most beautiful aquarium in the Czech and Slovak Republics and I must admit that isn´t an easy task. Therefore, I wish the EAC judges the right choice and good luck to all participants.
