Huge congratulations to AIM member Vishnu Suresh for securing Narodowe Centrum Nauki funding for a new research project! 🎉👏

In a collaborative effort between Politechnika Wrocławska 🇵🇱 and Vilniaus universitetas / Vilnius University 🇱🇹, the project will aim to develop an accurate and reliable framework for selecting the best locations for solar farms in Lithuania and Poland.

By integrating Fuzzy Geographic Information System (GIS) - Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) and machine learning models, the team will build a model considering several important factors such as sunlight exposure, topography, environmental impacts, regulatory requirements, land use, climate conditions, proximity to infrastructure (like roads and power lines), and socio-economic factors.

A scientist's work is largely about teaching - and hopefully, inspiring new generations of innovators 🌟

Last Monday, AIM member Cezary Czajkowski delivered an insightful lecture on energy efficiency as part of the EDU-LEO project 🌍💡 This series of educational lectures, organized by the Renewable Energy Lab at the Department of Thermodynamics and Renewable Energy Sources, aims to bring their scientific work closer to the public and foster better understanding of modern sustainable solutions.

How can we make modern science truly open? 🔍

The Optima Project (Open Practices, Transparency, and Integrity for Modern Academia) aims to answer this very question to improve the higher education services in Ukraine.

📆 On October 24-25 , AIM members Wojciech Wodo (OPTIMA Project Coordinator at Wrocław Tech) and Sławomir Czarnecki took part in the OPTIMA consortium workshop. The event covered critical topics such as technology evaluation, predatory practices, and monitoring of academic publishing efforts—vital elements to making science accessible and transparent for everyone.

Last weekend, AIM members headed to Karpacz for the traditional start-of-term trip ⛰

This year, we kicked things off with a series of introductory gong talks, expertly chaired by Konrad (with a little help from a random number generator) 🎤 We also participated in a workshop on creating successful social media profiles for scientists led by Yash Chawla, PhD.

And the more adventurous among us hiked the beautiful trails to Śnieżka, enjoying the unseasonably nice weather ☀️

On July 9th, we had the wonderful opportunity to gather with both "new" and "old" members of Academia Iuvenum for a special ceremony. The event was a chance to honor the contributions of the AiM members from the 2022/2023-2023/2024 term and to welcome the newly appointed members into our community.
The highlight of the ceremony was an insightful lecture by Przemysław Kula on "Highly Fluorinated Liquid Crystals – from smart windows to heliconical polar nematics"

Yesterday, we participated in the "Black Swan Course - Self-Management in a Crisis Situation". We learned so much and are incredibly grateful to our instructor, Beata, for her excellent guidance throughout the training. Thank you, Beata, for leading such an impactful session!

We just returned from an amazing trip to Bielawa from May 24-26, 2024! The AIM team had a fantastic time filled with fun and team-building activities.
But it wasn't all fun and games – we also participated in valuable training sessions that will benefit us greatly in our professional endeavors. We had insightful workshops on "Lego 4 Scrum" and "Horizon Europe Proposal Writing Training," which provided us with practical skills and knowledge.
This trip was a perfect blend of learning and leisure, making it an unforgettable experience for all of us at AIM!
