HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY

Giving myself a high five today for how far I’ve come. I spent 10 years working for other people before I finally took the plunge to work for myself. Some days are so hard I want to give up - but then the next day we have amazing customers or I find a rare vintage piece and I realise there’s nothing else I was meant to do but this.

Grateful for the opportunities that came my way since moving to Lisbon but also proud of myself for finally following my dreams despite the highs and the lows that got me here. Then … becoming a Mother making everything 10 times harder 🥴 but my motivation grows everyday to build a future for my family - I wouldn’t change it for the world

Why we don’t take part in Black Friday?

Black Friday promotes everything we don’t like - over consuming, devaluing and a fast pace of shopping.

Think of it like dating - we prefer to take things slower, wait for the right one and fall in love. Don’t rush in to things for a quick fix because let’s be honest that never lasts… 😉

Technically vintage is classed as anything 20 years or older. At Malala we focus on searching for 70s and 80s vintage but you may also find some pieces from the 90s - the era we grew up in! We know what is vintage and what is not from working in the industry for over 15 years, knowing the types of fabrics used and the techniques of how clothes were made.

My second memory of my second hand fashion was the classic jelly shoe. Everyone had silver glitter ones with a chunky heel - meanwhile the pair I found were pink with flowers on and completely flat. There’s nothing wrong with different 🌺

My first memory of owning something second hand was when I was 8 years old - the black and orange bomber jacket craze was all over the playground BUT… I found a silver metallic one at a charity shop and decided to wear that instead. I was the only one not in black and not much has changed really 💃

MDA Gender free stainless steel jewelry. MDA handmakes his pieces like a “lego” of chains and other elements, joint together by trial and error - exploring the union between a sensual and harder components like chains mixed with delicate and cute components as beads and pearls.
