Cleaning seeds from Salvia jurisicii
In days of snow or rain, this is what people of botanical gardens do...!
Step by step:
- Use your two hands !!! (don't film and stuff..)
- Crush very well the plant material, so that the seeds go out
- Use a sleeve, already knowing the size of this plant specie seeds
- Use gravitacional force! Swing up and down, in short movements, with the TWO hands, and because seeds are heavier than the leaves vestigial material, they will separate!
- Put music :D (when I'm alone working always like to check this radio, radio student, coordinated by students in Slovenia)
Have a nice rainy day ! :)
Mimosa pudica experience (of today) :) Thigmonasty or seismonasty is the nastic response of a plant or fungus to touch or vibration. Conspicuous examples of thigmonasty include many species in the leguminous subfamily Mimosoideae, active carnivorous plants such as Dionaea and a wide range of pollination mechanisms. ~ Nasiic response: Nastic movements are non-directional responses to stimuli and are usually associated with plants. The movement can be due to changes in turgor (turgor pressure pushes the plasma membrane against the cell wall of plant) or changes in growth (therefore K+ ion concentration usually controls such movement is plants). Nastic movements differ from tropic movements in that the direction of tropic responses depends on the direction of the stimulus, whereas the direction of nastic movements is independent of the stimulus's position.
