Hello, I haven’t posted eggs for a long time but it doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy egging.
With Easter round the corner I want to share some decorated goose eggs. They are available if you want to find an Easter gift that doesn’t include adding kilos or pounds to the waistline.
Each egg can either stand or hang and are boxed ready to give to your favourite person . I do have some egg stands now that will allow you to show the eggs easier . I hope you enjoy looking at them 😍
Beautiful blue.
I can now post this one as it’s been delivered to the lovely lady who wanted her ostrich egg decorated .
Lots of waxing and dying to cover this egg but the result is stunning .
Merry Christmas to you all .
I hope all your eggs are making your Christmas beautiful .
Have an eggcelant time .
Symbols in the designs.
A diamond symbolises knowledge
The art of Pysanky dates back to at least 988AD; it originated in the Ukraine where the art flourished with the onset of the Christian faith. Pysanky comes from the word pysaty which means to write and the symbols and colours used in the decoration of the eggs have either religious or cultural meanings. The colour red symbolises love, blue relates to good health and black signifies remembrance or respect. Animals and patterns are also used, all sending a different message. The dove is love, the tree means good health, a spider relates to patience and fish pertains to Christianity. Most eggs were drawn during the period of Lent which traditionally has been a time of reflection and contemplation before the celebration of Easter.
Eggs have been decorated in other Eastern European countries and there are different techniques associated with the different regions but all create beautiful pieces of art passed on from generation to generation.
To decorate an egg you use a kistka and beeswax. The kistka is a short stick with a small copper bucket attached to it, that you heat with a flame and fill with beeswax. A small hole in the bucket allows the melted beeswax to escape, creating lines on the egg shell. The egg is then dipped into a dye and this process is repeated until the desired design is complete. The beeswax is then melted and the coloured egg is revealed.
It is said that a Pysanky egg can last over 70 years or more and many have become heirlooms that have been passed from one generation to another. In modern times the designs on eggs have become more decorative but you will still see the traditional influences of the origins of Pysanka on eggs decorated today.
Preparations are steaming ahead for the Christmas season .

Christmas goose egg with Christmas chicken eggs
Hopefully I will be forgiven for mentioning that Christmas is just around the corner .
Here are three small bantam eggs decorated using the brightest Christmas red with snowflake patterns.
Size of eggs are 4.5cm x5cm
Something a little different . Peahen eggs. These eggs are larger than a chicken egg but smaller than a goose egg, the eggs really take the dye well and are beautiful to work with . The design on these eggs was taken from a photograph posted by another artist.
The eggs would look amazing displayed in a bowl with Peebles , fir cones or a group of eggs.
