al Canet olive oil comes from olives of centenarian olive trees in the region of Alcanede, old village in central Portugal, at Serra de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park. This area is marked by a soft land relief, mild climate and benefits from both Mediterranean and Atlantic environment. The brand os a tribute to the presumed arabic origin of the toponymy Alcanede. al Canet comes from the best ol
ives, mainly harvested from Galega variety trees. Cold pressed by mechanical process in traditional mill, full of many generations knowledge, offering a smooth and fruity flavor, to be tasted by connoisseurs. al Canet olive oil has low acidity, usually around 0.5º, being classified as Extra Virgin, outcome of the care put in the whole production chain (ripening, harvesting, cleaning, extraction, storage and packaging). The sensory characteristics of al Canet - such as flavor, aroma and color - are the result of several factors: variety, soil and climatic conditions, fruit maturity at harvest and extraction process. The product tends to be slightly thick and the color balances between yellow and green. Slightly fruity and herbaceous aroma notes, right balance on taste characteristics, which are smooth and slightly spicy, offering a tasting experience persistent and unique
For a full taste experience of al Canet, we recommend its use in uncooked dishes such as salads, condiments and sauces, or in the completion of hot dishes, widely present in the rich mediterranean and atlantic cuisine. Accompanied by bread, is a particularly rewarding experience. Another sensory experience not to be missed: al Canet added with balsamic vinegar, salt or herbs such as oregano, thyme or rosemary - that are spontaneous in the Serra de Aire e Candeeiros.
