"Samadhi (union) is the goal of yoga, according to the theoretical explanation of the sastra, but I think that the real goal is somewhere deeper, where the pure being exists. The aim of yoga, as I see it, is ultimately to reach the inner sanctum of eternal truth, which is a long process of transformation.
Small aims produce small gains that can lead a person to the final goal. Through a faithful practice of yoga, a person will develop compassion, patience, sensitivity, contentment, vigour, faith and non-attachment, all of which can be viewed as achievements along the path to discovering the inner being."
Dr Geeta S. Iyengar, 7 December 1944 - 16 December 2018 🙏❤️
"The only liberation will be a shared liberation." - Rabbi Sharon Brous

Spring cleaning the yoga studio and cleaning the ropes – I love this time of year where the natural world springs to life and renewed energy brings motivation to clean, revitalise, brighten and freshen both the inner and outer world!
"If yoga could do that for me, who was not blessed with the good things of this life, how can those who have started life in more fortunate circumstances refuse its lessons?" BKS Iyengar

“By remaining motionless for sometime and keep the mind still while you are fully conscious, you learn to relax. This conscious relaxation invigorates and refreshes both body and mind.
But is much harder to keep the mind than the body still.” BKS Iyengar, Light on Yoga.

Feasting on our yoga retreat! Every meal has been delicious. Tonight, we had: polenta with leek and gorgonzola / swiss chard with roasted garlic / broccoli and green beans with balsamic and roasted cherry tomatoes / sundried tomatoes and black olive tapenade / a basil rocket and almond sauce / green salad with a lovely dressing.
Thank you, Wendy and Elena,

After two weeks in , eating this delicious food every day, my body felt so in balance, energised and vibrant. We are what we eat! Can’t wait to return to all this yumminess in November!
Simply beautiful! Two weeks in Ulpotha is total bliss. Everything here is simple, natural and beautiful. The flower bowls at the entrance to the buildings expresses this intention perfectly.
Tropical fruits are one of my biggest thrills of life in Bahia – fruits and fresh coconut water. Look at our range that gets topped up twice a week by the market that comes into our ecovillage. It has taken the local monkeys a month to realise that we’re back and our fruits are available for all so this week we’ll have to start taking precautions to keep our fruits protected from the local competition!
