Spiritual Strength
Creeds, dogmas, doctrines, rituals, ceremonies, stained glass, altars, mitre, cope -- what have these to do with religion? Religion is in the spirit, the spirit that belongs to all Creation, which expresses itself in every rhythm and manifestation of life, that is revealed in every aspect of Nature and in the striving of all idealists and reformers who wish to serve. What has that to do with creeds?

"Be the one who nurtures and builds. Be the one who has an understanding and a forgiving heart one who looks for the best in people. Leave people better than you found them."
Marvin J. Ashton
“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come"
Joseph Campbell
“We are all just walking each other home.”
Ram Das
"Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is symbolic as well as actual beauty in the migration of the birds, the ebb and flow of the tides, the folded bud ready for the spring. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature ... the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after the winter."
Rachel Carson
Life is always a polarity. If there were no darkness there would be no light. If there were no trouble there could never be any peace. If the sun always shone you would not appreciate it. You have to learn sometimes through conditions that seem a nuisance. One day you will look back and say, "We learned our best lessons not when the sun was shining, but when the storm was at its greatest, when the thunder roared, the lightning flashed, the clouds obscured the sun and all seemed dark and hopeless". It is only when the soul is in adversity that some of its greatest possibilities can be realised.

We have not gone far, your loved ones no longer in a body. Our world is as full as yours. We can occupy ourselves with adventures, with tasks, with interactions with others, yet by simply shifting our attention, here we are with you! What a joy it is to think of you and find ourselves present with you, watching you go about your day. If only you could sense us the way we sense you, you would not worry so much, cry so much, miss us so much. Yes, we miss your touch, but being so close in awareness makes up for the lack of a body. Worry not, we have not gone far. Here in your heart is where we are. We and you are all so very loved, If we have learned anything at all in this expanded state of awareness it is this.
Sanaya
Do not weep because the one you love is taken from a world of cruelty, of misunderstanding, of ignorance, into a larger life where all its innate qualities can find richer expression. Do not be bitter because the Great Spirit has transplanted a flower from your garden into His, where it can shed a greater fragrance, freed from all the limitations and restrictions of your world. Try to understand that death is part of the law of life, for life and death are both servants of the Great Spirit, and both are used to teach His laws to those who do not yet properly understand them. Dry your tears. Your sorrow should not be, for the one you love is always close to you. Death cannot destroy love; love is infinite as the Great Spirit is infinite too
Silver Birch
I always wish that people in your world, could become aware of what is around and about them. If only they could see the ones they love who are close to them, shielding them, guarding them, guiding them, ensuring that no real harm will ever befall them.
If you could realize the extent of this radiance you would never have any doubts or fears as to what the morrow will bring. So you should greet each new day as the herald of wonderful spiritual adventures

When death occurs, the spirit takes with it everything that belongs to the individual, everything that makes that person unique. The consciousness, mind, idiosyncrasies, habits, the power to love, to inspire and give affection, friendship - all these are spiritual qualities, and because of that they persist. All that is the real you cannot die. Whether you can realise this or not (and I know it is difficult to grasp in its fullness), all that you love, and all that loves you, is still alive

You who are encased in matter do not yet comprehend beauty as it can be. You have not seen our light, colour, scenery, trees, birds, rivers, streams, mountains, flowers - and yet your world fears death. There are no words to compare the life in your world of matter with the life in the world of spirit. We who you see as dead know so much more of living than you do

I whom you call Silver Birch, desire to send a message to those whose eyes are filled with tears and whose hearts are heavy with sadness because they mourn the ones they love, whom they think death has robbed of their presence. I, who have lived in the realm of spirit for many years, wish to tell them, that death cannot hide those whom real love has joined. Love breaks all barriers, love always findeth its own
Silver Birch
Your 'dead' do not leave you. They pass through a door into a new life. For them it is the greatest release, it is not hard for them, and their only sorrows are your sorrows. In your evolution you are more responsive to material vibrations, than to those of spirit. Your loved ones in spirit are very near to you, sometimes closer than they were before they left. It is difficult for the slow vibrations of matter to pick up the quick vibrations of spirit with which they surround you with love

We are all tired. Really, we are. It’s a hard road, but it’s also a beautiful one. Perhaps we expect too much from ourselves and from others. Perhaps humanity can only make slow progress, like an inch worm. Perhaps we need to celebrate how far we have come more often. And rest more. And relish the simple pleasures. And look for love everywhere. There is a river near where I live. It meanders slowly, peacefully. It doesn’t ask itself why it isn’t an ocean, or a raging river, or some other thing. It just surrenders to what it is. Maybe we just need to surrender more to who we are. I think I will lie down tomorrow beside the river. And take a rest. And sweet surrender.
Jeff Brown
“Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us”
Brian Jacques

"Of course no one can help the suffering which comes in bereavement. Indeed, who would escape it if he could? It is the one means left to us by which to declare the reality and depth of our love for the one taken. Were there no pain it would mean there had been no love or too little love. Go on unanimously with the glad knowledge that you and yours are tied by a bond against which death is as powerless as a cloud to extinguish the sun or a hammer to destroy a moonbeam"
Charles H. Brent
"Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!"
Henry Scott-Holland
Death has no power to separate those whom love has joined together and made them one in spirit.
The eyes of the spirit are open, and knows that the one you love and who loves you has left you physically but not spiritually.
Silver Birch
"Remember that death is not what it seems. Consciousness is expanded upon leaving the physical body. Colors and sounds are more vivid. The purpose of our soul's journey becomes more clear. We immediately recognize our timeless links to other souls, our eternal relationships. Our spiritual nature is manifest; and in those moments we understand we are immortal beings of wisdom, infinite love, and compassion."
Brian Weiss
"For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?"
Khalil Gibran
Intuition is the means by which spirit becomes aware of itself. It outpaces the processes of normal earthly reasoning. Intuition accomplishes, at lightning speed, what normally you may reach after much deliberation. In other words intuition is that process of attuning, during which you receive the prompting, which you should reach after much time and thought on the same subject. Listen
Silver Birch
Love is greater than hate. Spirit is superior to matter. The mightiest power in the universe emanates from the Great Spirit of all life. The natural laws, created by infinite intelligence and governed by divine wisdom, will ensure that slowly and inevitably there will come a better world than the one in which you live
Silver Birch
"Death is not extinguishing the light, it is only putting out the lamp because the dawn has come."
Rabindranath Tagore
Your experiences are all part of your evolution. One day, freed from the trammels of flesh, with eyes not clouded by matter, you will look back and view the life you have lived. Out of the jigsaw of all events, you will see how every piece fits into its alloted place, how every experience was a lesson to quicken the soul and to enable it to have a greater understanding of its possibilities
Silver Birch
Be comforted by the knowledge that we who are 'dead' know so much more of living than you do. This is the world where all dreams come true, where ambition is realised and we have full power of expression. Our world is where the repressions of earth are swept away and all our gifts and talents are used in the service of one another
Silver Birch
For those who 'die', death is freedom..a liberation. Death is a second birth and it holds the keys of life, opening the door to allow them to enjoy life as it could not be enjoyed in your world. But remember.. 'death' as you call it, cannot part those whom the willing tie of love has bound
Silver Birch
"Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
Do not stand at my grave and mourn, I am the dew-flecked grass at dawn.
Where tranquil oceans meet the land, I am the footprints in the sand.
When you wake up to morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die."
Mary Elizabeth Frye
It is not easy for people in your world, even when they have knowledge that life is continuous after physical death, to adjust themselves when those who are closest to them are removed to another dimension of the universe. It would be foolish to minimize the fact that inevitably there is sorrow when this physical separation takes place. But it is only a physical separation and not a spiritual one. Death is inevitable for everyone in your world. There comes a time when you have to say farewell to earth, for it has no more to offer you and the soul is ready for the adventures that are an essential part of its evolution towards perfection. How you comfort yourself when the trial comes is a question you have to decide. I know it is not easy. Death cannot separate those whom love has joined. Love, like life, is undying. And love, like life, is a mighty force that can work its will as conditions make it possible. Of course there are times in the silence when tears are shed. But hold your head high, and know that the power of the spirit will never desert you
