We're happy to announce Paula Mota as a PTMC speaker.
Paula Mota is a Portuguese Jurist and founder of the non-profit association “Mães pela Canábis” (Mothers for Cannabis), that supports patients in the use of cannabis and is also a member of the IACM Patient Council. Paula started her journey with medicinal cannabis because she is the mother of a young girl that has Dravet Sindrome and against all medical advises started treating her with cannabis in 2017, when it was still illegal in Portugal. Today she is an activist fighting for the accomplishment of the law that turned medical cannabis legal in Portugal since 2018, but that still doesn't guarantee the free access to the plant for every patient.

We're happy to announce Helena Correia as a PTMC Speaker. Helena holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Master Degree in Technology of Medicines and a Post-Graduation in Herbal Medicinal Products and Herbal Health Products, all by the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Coimbra University (FFUC). She also graduated in Regulation and Evaluation of Medicines and Health Products by the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Lisbon University (FFUL).
With more than 15 years of experience in Pharma Regulatory and Quality Affairs, Helena worked as process manager at Infarmed, I.P. for 2 years and led regulatory and quality teams in different Pharmaceutical Companies.
In 2021 she joined Clever Leaves Portugal as Head of Regulatory Affairs for Portugal, being also involved in international regulatory affairs in medicinal cannabis, merging her expertise in regulatory affairs and medicinal plants.
Helena is currently supporting cannabis companies, given her knowledge of global regulatory legislation and practices, in licensing, product registration and structuring regulatory strategies in the relevant markets.

With a Graduation in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Master of Sciences in Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology, has dedicated the professional career to the Pharmaceutical Industry having been Production Manager for 15 years, ensuring the manufacturing of medical products, both sterile and non-sterile, at Laboratório Edol, Produtos Farmacêuticos S.A.

Additionally, had actively participated in the licensing process of a GMP facility (part I and part II).
Recently, completed an Executive MBA, at ISCTE, to achieve a comprehensive understanding of business strategy within companies, knowledge that applies to the implementation of relevant projects in the cannabis area.

Vera Broder is one of the pioneers in the Portuguese medical cannabis industry, is co-founder and CEO of MediCane Portugal.

Sérgio Neto started his role in medicinal cannabis long time ago, when he helped his grandmother fighting against a severe Leukemia.
Graduated in Computer Science, he began his work with cannabis in 2018, when the Portuguese goverment aprove the new medicinal cannabis legislation. He graduated in Medical Cannabis in 2019 by the Cannabis Training University, in the USA.
Sérgio created one of the first 100% Portuguese companies with license to grow, import and export, Pure Healing, under the motto "we grow because we care". He dedicated his last years to the cultivation and study of cannabis for medicinal and scientific purposes, having won two awards for reaching the highest levels of THC in two auto-flowering plants, 100% organic! This was THE case study: first successful high-THC medical cannabis harvest from autoflower seeds in the world.

The PTMC event on May 22nd at Casa do Alentejo, in Lisbon, features a great agenda with insightful sessions and valuable networking opportunities.
We’ll begin our day with a very relaxed wellcome coffee at the beautiful Arabic Pateo, getting together with all participants and starting networking. The morning will be dedicated to the Infarmed presentations, followed by a Q&A session just before lunch.

Many professionals have plenty of questions about the licensing process of companies and medicines in Portugal but it’s not always easy to have an effective or quick contact with the regulator. Dr. Vasco Bettencourt, Director of the Licensing Unit and Coordinator of the Cannabis Office for Medicinal Purposes at Infarmed — the Portuguese Authority for Medicines and Health Products I.P. will be the main speaker of the event, together with Dr. Ana Rita Martins, from the Inspection Unit. They will share valuable tips and insights on these processes at the PTMC event on May 22nd, at Casa do Alentejo.
