Beerd of Knowledge

Beer addict. Cool dad (sidekick to SuperTudor). Annoying husband (put that beer down and do something!)
Here are the beers I drink/drank/drunk.

There are times you can find a review here, there are times when only pictures do the talking.

Don't Feed The Cat. A delicious fruity Hazy NEIPA from .beer.
Pale hazy yellowish color, nose is filled with fruity hops.
Taste follows nose, a lot of tropical fruit and citrus present. Mango, pineapple and citrus zest, vaguely bitter. Extremely sessionable.
ABV is a friendly 5.5%, carbonation medium-low, mouthfeel tangy and quite watery, even if the palate enjoys a certain temporary unctuousness.
Aftertaste is medium, extremely summery, very fruity, vague hops and citrus zest let a distinct bitterness, even bittersweetness linger.

A brilliant 10% ABV, perfect for a winter beer, creamy mouthfeel, even a bit oily on the palate, fizzy carbonation.

Not a session ale, but more than one is definitely required.

23/10/2023

Litra Pale Ale.
This fantastic beer, brewed with 3 types of hops is every hop lover's dream.
Nose doesn't pick up too much, but the taste hits strongly right from the start. Brilliantly bitter, it brings forward strong tastes of citrus zest, of bitter lemon, licorice, vague medicine.
With a decent 5.3% ABV, a full mouthfeel and a fizzy carbonation, it can easily be a session beer.
Aftertaste is relatively short, with medicine, zest and pure hop taste lingering.

23/10/2023

Litra West Coast IPA.
Radical Beer for Radical People? Oh yes, it is.

A Postcard From Iguazu, by Maktoob Brewery.
This is a Yerba Mate IPA, that catches the eye with its artfully designed label. Inspired by Tereré, a Yerba Mate infusion from Peru.
Nose is charmed with citrus, leafy greens, herbs, eye catches a huge, generous collar. Taste hits hard, with pineapple and grapefruit, some pomegranate and lime zest.
With a 6% ABV, this fantastic IPA has a rich, full body, a bit creamy on the palate and a medium carbonation.
Aftertaste is long-lasting, bittersweet, with herbal notes and citrus, tea leaves and citrus zest lingering.

Der Weizen from Tilmans Biere.
Purrs, scratches and bites.
First things first, tigers don't purr. Any feline that can roar can't purr and, obviously, the other way around. Now, on to the beer.
It's extremely hot and, for me personally, on these torrid days there's few beers comparable to a cold Weizen.
This one doesn't disappoint. Beautiful collar, beautiful cloudy golden color, nose is instantly hit upon pouring with banana and clove.
Initial taste is grassy, with cloves, bread, banana. Classic Weizen.
With a decent ABV of 6%, it's extremely sessionable. Carbonation is fizzy, body rich, mouthfeel full and flavory.
Aftertaste lingers, giving time to the palate to enjoy the bread, malt and banana.

Euphoria Cannabis Beer. Actually, the name should say it all, but there's a catch. This won't get you neither high, not drunk.
It's actually a herbal lager, nothing more.
Decent collar, brownish in color, nose hits with caramel and herbs.
Taste is Lagery, towards bland and boring. It's like sucking on a burlap sack dropped in a keg of beer. Some hints of herbs, h**p, Jute in the initial taste. Some vague smokey notes.
ABV stands at a poor 4.5%, carbonation is medium-low and mouthfeel is incredibly watery, almost no robustness in the body.
Aftertaste is close to none. Some herbs, some malt, some hops. Nothing fancy. Short-lasting.
All in all, good idea, horrendously put into practice.

Späten Oktoberfest Bier. This is what Germans would typically call a "true beer".
Tastes crisp, fresh, like hops and malt. Nothing else, nothing fancy. Just what most people would think about when one talks about Ninkasi's brew.
Well carbonated, crisp, light to watery mouthfeel, 5.9% ABV.
Aftertaste is close to none, extremely short and malty.

17/07/2023

Urban Dubbel, from Urban Brewery is just what the name says, a Dubbel Ale.

Decent 6% ABV, mild carbonation, rich, full body and creamy mouthfeel.
Aftertaste is medium-long, with vanilla, pastry, caramel and with hops bitterness lingering.

Zhiguli Barnoe.
Mr. Putin said it's ok to drink this, but to stay away from the tea.
Classic Pale Lager, not pretentious, quaffable and sessionable. Head is generous, but short.
Nose is cereal and malt. Taste follows nose, with bread, grains, yeast present.
ABV is 4.9%, mouthfeel watery, carbonation quite low.
Aftertaste is quasi-inexistant, with some vague hop hints and biscuits.

25/06/2023

Mr. Prigozhin left for Belarus and all he sent me is this beer. Staryi Zamak by Lidskae Brewery.
One typical strong Lager, nose is cereal and malt, nothing special in rest. Collar is white and extremely short-lasting. Taste follows nose, some bread, malt and alcohol hit it first.
ABV is a decent 6.2%, mouthfeel is watery and short, carbonation rather high, aftertaste quasi-inexistent with hints of grains and some hops.
