o știre tristă, foarte tristă... și neașteptată

We are writing to let you know, with great sadness, that Dr Mark Widdowson unexpectedly passed away over the weekend.

We are in absolute shock and are all devastated by the news.

Mark was such an inspiring man, who had a profound impact on so many people.

He was a beloved tutor at The Link Centre and enriched many lives with his impactful teaching.

He was kind, funny, generous, authentic and sometimes controversial.

Mark was the kind of person you never forgot, you only had to meet him once for him to impact you in some way. He was loud, he was honest and he was unapologetically himself and we are heartbroken that he is gone.

Our thoughts are with his husband Philip, his friends, family and all who knew him.

TA Theory: Injunctions and Permissions ✅

The many messages we receive as children enable us to form a story about who we believe we are, who we believe others are and what we believe the world 🌎 is like.

Transactional Analysis calls these early messages injunctions and permissions.

Injunctions are those less helpful messaged like "Don't be close" or "Don't be important" or "Don't feel" that can limit our potential.

On the flip side, permissions are the messages that empower us, like "You can be yourself" or "You can succeed".

These messages, often unconscious, weave together to form our life script.
It's like a blueprint for how we navigate the world. 🗺️

📚 To make sure that our world fits around our life script we unconsciously ignore information which would disagree with our script. This is called discounting.✨

🏷️ Discounting is an internal process but what we can see is an external manifestation of discounting in the form of Passive Behaviours.

▶️ Stewart& Joines (1987) defined it as “unawarely ignoring information relevant to the solution of a problem.”
We can discount the self, others or the situation as well as the stimuli, problems and options.

📚 To make sure that our world fits around our life script we unconsciously ignore information which would disagree with our script. This is called discounting.✨

▶️ Stewart& Joines(1987) defined it as “unawarely ignoring information relevant to the solution of a problem.” We can discount the self, others or the situation as well as the stimuli, problems and options.

🏷️ Discounting is an internal process but what we can see is an external manifestation of discounting in the form of Passive Behaviours.

➡️ Doing nothing- no response to the stimuli, problems or options; a person might be uncomfortable with it but it will do nothing to change it.

➡️ Overadaptation- a person will do what she thinks is needed or acceptable by others, ignoring their own needs and goals.

➡️ Agitation- a person's energy is directed into repetitive, non-goal directed activity which is an avoidance of the internal discomfort that signals threat.

➡️ Incapacitation or Violence- the person’s energy is discharged whilst they are passive, to keep the symbiosis. No thinking takes place, and the person takes no responsibility for his/her behaviour.

⛰️ Every discount is accompanied by Grandiosity, which is usually the exaggeration or minimisation of some aspect of reality. The saying “making a mountain out of the molehill" describes it well.

Different types of rest 🧐🤗🗣️

✨ Rest encompasses various dimensions that address different aspects of our well-being. Understanding and incorporating different types of rest into our routines is essential for maintaining balance and promoting overall health.⚕️❤️

📚 In her book “ Sacred Rest”, describes the seven types of rest needed in our lives.

🛌🏻 Physical Rest: This involves giving your body time to recuperate through sleep, relaxation, or gentle movement exercises like yoga.

🧠 Mental Rest: Taking breaks from cognitive tasks allows your mind to recharge, whether through meditation, mindfulness, or simply stepping away from screens.

😊 Emotional Rest: Emotional rest involves finding outlets for expression, seeking support, and engaging in activities that bring joy and peace.

👁️ Sensory Rest: Limiting exposure to sensory stimuli, such as noise or bright lights, provides a respite for your senses.

🎨 Creative Rest: Allowing your creative pursuits to take a backseat at times can prevent burnout, fostering fresh inspiration and innovation.

👨🏻👩🏻 Social Rest: Spending time alone or with supportive individuals who energise rather than drain you can replenish your social energy.

⛪ Spiritual Rest: Cultivating a sense of purpose, connection, and inner peace through meditation, prayer, or nature walks nourishes the soul.

I can just be me

Try this sweet movement verse with your little ones!

🐌 I can be as small as a small, small seed! (Crouch down on the ground and wrap your hands around your knees, keeping your feet flat on the floor.)

🐌 I can be as tall as a tall, tall tree! (Sweep your arms up, stand up, and stretch to the sky, on tippy toes if you can!)

🐌 I can be as wide as the whole, wide world, (Step out your legs into a triangle and stretch your arms wide.)

🐌 Or I can just me be! (Step legs back together, cross your arms and wrap your self in a warm hug!)

It's one of my favorites from my Verses & Songs Guide for Everyday & Birthdays (found inside the Inspired at Home membership).

Appropriate for Kindy through 3rd Grade. And a perfect way to stretch and move a bit before starting lessons at the table or stories on the couch.

Give yourself a hug from me, sweet mama, and hug your little ones, too! They grow up sooooo fast!😘
