"The importance of the 1st molar in children is well knowed. It is generally the first permanent tooth which erupts and which will constitute a pillar for the arrangement of the dental arch and for the occlusion. Unfortunately, its involvement is frequent and when a periodontal lesion appears it can progress to a more severe stage until the extraction of the tooth and all the problems that this can cause. We will show here that periodontal treatment, although poorly tolerated by a child, is often considered to try to maintain a compromised molar."

Dr. Bogdan Dragomir is Lecturer at the Department of Orthodontics, University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Gr.T.Popa" Iasi. He graduated in 2003 from Faculty of Dentistry, University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Iasi and he became a specialist in Orthodontics in 2010. Dr Dragomir completed his PhD studies in 2012 at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Gr.T.Popa" Iasi, Romania and he has published numerous papers related to his main research interests, Growth and development of the dento-facial complex correlated with functional factors and vicious habits.

"Class III malocclusions suggest that the mandible has acquired a more mesial position in relation to the maxilla and/or cranial base due to an underdevelopment of maxilla or a prognathic mandible. Similar to most of the malocclusions and dentofacial deformities, the etiology of Class III malocclusion is multifactorial."

În 2013, Dr. Birte Melsen, editor al Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, a afirmat că “dacă putem controla stresul, putem muta dinții ‘cu os’”. Plecând de la câteva cazuri clinice, ce par a susține afirmația Dr. Melsen, am fost intrigat de acest potențial și am căutat o serie de informații pe acest subiect.

Prezentarea va trece în revistă detalii curente de fiziologie osoasă și mai ales detalii despre adaptarea osoasă la diverse niveluri de forță, dar si o incursiune în forțele necesare pentru mișcarea dentară și forțele ‘de facto’ folosite, cel mai frecvent, în ortodonție.
