RCCDN is member-driven civil society network working on climate change and other development challenges in Rwanda.
Today RCCDN had a General Assembly Meeting and voted for the new Board Members chaired by Eugene Rwibasira. In that regard, RCCDN also delivered a special recognition award to RDO to express the gratitude for their contribution toward the RCCDN growth since day one.
Today RCCDN concluded a 2-day workshop & documentary dissemination on Agroecology best practices compiled from vast array of different sources ranging from transition to agroecology to the best performance, themed "Strengthening Agroecology for Climate Resilient Community."
RCCDN conducted a National Dialogue to share the agroecology research findings. Merged agricultural stakeholders, research institutions, government agencies, NGOs and local communities to spread knowledge, foster teamwork, policy advocacy, capacity building & community engagement
RCCDN shared 100 copies of the simplified and summarized environment and climate change policy and law during its workshop in for official recognition of committees in collaboration with in Ntarabana & Rukozo sectors
Today RCCDN and other key stakeholders in agriculture discussed the PSTA IV enviroment and climate change related gaps to inform the coming PSTA V. A policy brief was developed in that respect
Today in celebration of the 20th International Mountain Day, RCCDN urges everyone to increase efforts in protecting & restoring mountain ecosystems for the sake of the climate, biodiversity, livelihoods & other benefits of sustainable development.

Today RCCDN trained some of its organization members in the Climate Justice Thematic Group aiming to build and boost their capacity in regards to ensuring Climate Justice
Today RCCDN conducted a workshop and awareness raising event on Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs) in collaboration with ARECO-RWANDA NZIZA, & IPEN and the research findings were shared.
Representatives from various institutions echoed on chemicals, including HHPs, convened at the meeting. Those known for their potential risks to food consumers, were identified as a priority area requiring intervention due to the potential long-term effects.
Conclusively, collaborative strategies are needed to prevent these HHPs entry into the Rwandan market emerging as a key recommendation.

Transitioning to clean energy use will create new problems and present risks that must be resolved. Some of which are: Losing jobs, stranded assets, different blocks, new robes and old habits
During the in which RCCDN has an envoy, revealers learned that as much as energy is the biggest emitter of GHG through industrial processes, transportation & home use. Its reduction depends on how much we produce and use, hence can be a solution to global warming
In the Cohort 3 of it was highlighted that Human & natural drivers are the main global warming drivers. Energy accounts for the greatest % to contribute to the emitting of greenhouse gases and so agriculture comes second. As encouraged by Ali Daudi Mohamed an environmental and development expert, "Young people need to use our voices to invoke action from negotiators and politicians to act and help bring about change."
Now: During the Gala Night, Youth Climate Action Initiative delivers a song that portrays the message of protecting the environment at all costs
Happening Now: , the Director General of challenged the Rwandan Youth to be the voices that ensure the protection of the environment. She encouraged them to speak out for anything that can help in creating awareness in Climate Change

Today RCCDN played part in the CSO Week 2023, dubbed "Community Connect" aims to showcase the contribution of CSOs in citizen participation & enhancement. RCCDN is helping the revealers to understand the best practices to save the environment & ensure climate justice
The disaster that hit our country, Rwanda in the North & Western Provinces, claiming over 130 lives, and properties as well as leaving so many more injured; is a clear manifestation of how climate change disasters affect communities that have no single contribution to its causes. This calls for global climate action beyond mere negotiations, plus individual concerns to build sustainable resilience to counter future catastrophes
