🌟Called To Lead🌟

NCSF Gothenburg is thrilled to present highlights from our “Called To Lead” event!🥳

💡The world is changing fast, and so do the leadership styles. Leadership is a broad term and involves various dimensions ranging from team & project leadership, and being a leader in the business environment to academic leaders. However, there are many challenges for especially young leaders with modern leadership styles in all sectors.

💡Comparing the traditional leadership styles and the modern ones, there are considerable differences in how to manage the people in the team. If the traditional leadership style was based to a large extent on not questioning authority, the modern leadership style is more human centric, appreciates diversity and openness to different opinions and perspectives. One of the main responsibilities of the young leaders is to create a safe environment for the team and to prioritize the people, considering differences in their cultures and backgrounds. Although the leadership styles are dependent on the country, the fact that they are evolving is undoubtable.

💡Being a leader is not an easy task and a lot of leaders have mentors who support them on their leadership journey. However, since young leaders often start their leadership journey from scratch, they learn by doing and by making their own mistakes. This path is challenging. However, such challenges and approach leads to personal and professional growth and development.

💡Leaders are constantly facing various challenges and hardships during their leadership journey. For young leaders, it can be difficult to know how to properly manage these obstacles while simultaneously being grounded and keeping the motivation alive. To face these challenges, it is important to keep the passion for the idea and use it to motivate others. One should learn from its mistakes and grow from them, it is okay to not know everything.

💡Human centricity is the key in the next-generation leadership style. The majority of panelists highlighted that their biggest achievement in their leadership journey was the creation of a motivated and trustworthy team. Diversity and inclusion are of crucial importance where team members are welcome to speak out, share their perspectives and opinions.

🌟 AIm for the Future together with NCSF Gothenburg🌟

NCSF Gothenburg is very excited to share some highlights from our “Aim for the Future” event!🥳

🤖 AI technology is omnipresent and has great potential to improve industrial efficiency and sustainability. However, there is a lack of accessibility and affordability for companies, especially for SMEs. How do industries make AI more accessible? One of the ways that AI could contribute dramatically to other sectors is through low code/no code AI or explainable AI that does not require expertise knowledge to manage. Synthetic datasets can be used to generate more equal and fair distribution of data. Different platforms could be hired as a service to validate, analyze and monitor to ensure transparency, unbiased, fairness, equality and trustworthiness

🤖 One of the topics that was discussed was if AI should be regulated, and if so, how it should be regulated. AI regulations exist, but there are no international laws and lack enforcements. There is also a gap in between top-to-bottom regulations with what engineers work with on a daily basis. It was discussed that there should be an international dialogue, not only to bridge the gap aforementioned but to also address the social aspects. AI could bring huge risks if used as a powerful tool for malicious purposes, for example, data abuse in hiring or to make financial decisions such as borrowing loans. Who will be responsible if something goes wrong? Another challenge is that AI is still at a very early stage, it has yet to mature into an industry, which makes it more challenging to regulate. Hence, one of the perspectives might be through regulating products, services and end users

🤖 When it comes to female leadership within the AI sector, only 20% of AI research and developers are women. STEM sectors need all genders working together in order to achieve working balance. Our experts discussed ways to improve the gender imbalance within the AI industry, for example, fast tracking females into senior positions.

🤖 Our experts mentioned a few factors/elements that need to be addressed along the way of development: transparency, diversity and the capabilities to attract talents within industry, applying inclusive leadership and increasing the awareness of its challenges and opportunities. Our experts also discussed the new trends, where they argued that AI could see its most potential in medical care systems or in industrial 4.0 sectors for better sustainability. Another current trend is AI social media influencers, where it is the perfect case where novelty meets popularity.
