It was rough starting on the outside all day with only one decent start. In the other starts Oskar lost some positions and had to fight his way back to the front.
Big thanks to Tegnelius for a great engine and emergency spare parts and to the grandparents for support and food. Thank you to Södertälje Kart Racing Club for a well executed race weekend.

Oskar did a lot of overtaking at Valla Raceway last weekend. had to check twice when he saw Oskar behind him after the checkered flag in heat 2, when Oskar had gained eleven positions.

🥈 Yet another podium! But it wasn’t easy this time.
Here’s a short race report from Valla Raceway in Katrineholm.
🏎️
Participants: 20 drivers in category Junior 125
Practice 1: P1 in group
Practice 2: P2 in group
Qualifying: Dead last, chain failure
Heat 1: P17 -> P8, fastest lap
Heat 2: P17 -> P6, fastest lap
Pre final: P6 -> P3, second fastest lap
Final: P3 -> P2, fastest lap
🏎️
Due to the chain failure in the qualifying Oskar had to do a lot of overtakes at this really narrow track. It’s not easy but that makes the success even sweeter. Congrats to to his first win!
Thanks a lot to everyone who supports us! Thanks to grandma and grandpa for food at the track!
We dedicate the podium finish to the other grandpa who would have celebrated his birthday today not far from this track. Rest in peace!

Friday practice at Valla Raceway in Katrineholm today. It was a hot day with some issues to take care of ahead of tomorrow’s race. Pace looks promising.

27/05/2024

It’s race week! This Saturday we’ll race at Valla Raceway in Katrineholm.

Last Saturday Oskar ended up on the podium again for the first time since the Swedish championship at this very track last year. It was the second round of the Mid-Swedish kart racing series (MKR), and thanks to two good results Oskar claimed the lead in the championship.
Here are some photos from a sunny Rörken Ring.

🥉 Back on the podium!
Here’s a short race report of yesterday’s race in Rasbo.
🏎️
Participants: 36 drivers in category Junior 125
Practice 1: P3 in group
Practice 2: P1 in group
Qualifying: P3 in group
Heat 1: P6 -> P5, second fastest lap
Heat 2: P6 -> P5
Pre final: P5 -> P3
Final: P3 -> P3, third fastest lap
🏎️
The weekend started with Friday practice when we at the end of the day confirmed our suspicions that the chassis was bent and got it straightened. Thanks a lot to Hasse Zetterström for professional help! We got a lot quicker immediately but we had to start from scratch with the set up work during race day.
Oskar did really good starts, never lost a position. But there was some technical issues during the day. For instance our starter motor was dead for the final and we needed an external starter to get going. Thanks a lot to Niclas Nåtfors .natfors for his and his father’s contribution running to get it.
Thanks a lot to Gösta Tegnelius for support, to the grandparents for food and all the other friends in the paddock who make life more easy and fun!
Thanks to Rasbo MK for a good race day!

Time flies and it’s race week again. This Saturday we’ll race at Rörken Motorstadium in Rasbo, Uppsala.

We want to thank grandma and grandpa for bringing us lunch and snacks during the race last weekend and everyone cheering for us.
Here are some photos from a sunny Västerås.

05/05/2024

We had a warm and sunny race day in Västerås this weekend. Once again we couldn’t participate in Friday practice, which meant we needed to spend the race trying to find a good setup. Oskar did a solid job with good pace through out the day.
🏎️
Participants: 44 drivers in category Junior 125
Practice 1: P2 in group
Practice 2: P3 in group
Qualifying: P6 in group
Heat 1: P8 -> P5 at the flag, P9 after drop down bumper
Heat 2: P8 -> P6
Pre final: P13 -> P7
Final: P7 -> P6
🏎️
It was a very challenging and even race with the top 12 drivers within 0.2 seconds in race pace. Oskar kept it together with very few mistakes and managed to improve with each session. A big thank you to .valtonen and Ronny for a heroic quick rear axle replacement between the two heats. Thanks to Tegnelius for a good engine as always.

Here are some photos from last weekend in Borås. It started off in drying conditions but for the final the sun came out.

30/04/2024

And it’s race week again!
This Saturday we will be racing at Hälla Ring in Västerås.

29/04/2024

Tough race in Borås last weekend. We had very little prep time with no practice at this track ahead of the race. Despite that, Oskar learned and adapted very quickly in challenging track conditions. There were 40 drivers in category Junior 125, much thanks to the Swedish Championship being held here later this year.
🏎️
Practice 1: P1 in group (wet)
Practice 2: P1 in group (wet)
Qualifying: P5 in group (drying track)
Heat 1: P7 -> P10
Heat 2: P7 -> P5
Semi final: P5 -> P10 (start incident)
Final: P19 -> DNF on lap 3
🏎️
Oskar started out by being fastest on the wet track after heavy rain during the night. For qualifying practice it was still damp, but dry enough for slicks. Unfortunately it dried faster than we thought, so we had too high tire pressure which meant that Oskar had overheated his tyres by the time the track was at its best.
Heat 1 was our first outing on a completely dry track. Oskar got a decent start, but dropped down a few positions during the heat.
In heat 2, pace was better and he gained places with some nice overtakes.
At the start of the semi final, things got too tight at the first corner, and Oskar spun around and came to a halt facing the wrong way while the whole field went past. He got going again dead last, but managed to find good pace and recovered to P10 with the third fastest lap.
In the final Oskar got a decent start, but on lap 3 his race ended in the barrier after being caught up in some chaos in front of him.
Overall we’re happy with Oskar’s pace, both in wet and dry, considering the non-existent prep time. We’ll come back stronger in the next race in Västerås this weekend.
Thank you to FMCK Borås for hosting us, and thanks to Tegnelius for a good engine as always.

It’s finally race week! The first race of the year, Knalleracet, at Gäddered in Borås.
We haven’t been at this track since our very first race in our former category Junior 60 in 2021.

Photos from Wiik Racing's post 14/04/2024

It was a productive test day yesterday in Enköping with lots of laps and nice people from the IPK family. Testing both on wet and dry.
Thanks to Ronny for organizing everything!

31/03/2024

Happy Easter everyone!
We’re celebrating the holiday with family in Linköping. And when in Linköping we just have to visit Sviestad for some practice.

23/03/2024

Back on track again after almost a six month off season. We started where we left off, at Hälla ring in Västerås.
Thanks a lot for support by friends and for getting Oskar’s helmet to Västerås! We don’t have all the routines in place quite yet but we’ll be there.

Photos from Wiik Racing's post 28/01/2024

Today Oskar drove the KAK cup with all the best drivers in our motor club, Kungliga Automobilklubben, the Royal Automobile Club. He made it to the B-final where he nailed the fastest lap time and ended up at third place.
It was a good morning with nice people and really good drivers. Thanks a lot to for the arrangement and for having us!

We can now finally put the 2023 season to an end after Bilsportgalan last night where Oskar received the bronze medal for his achievements in the Swedish championship last summer. It was a nice ceremony and a fancy gala with good food and a lot of nice motorsport people. It was a great experience for the whole team. Thanks a lot to Svenska Bilsportförbundet and Albinsson&Sjöberg for a fantastic evening!

17/01/2024

We ended the 2023 season quite early but we haven’t actually ended it yet.
Yesterday we went to the Järfälla MK season finale with pizza and rental kart race. It was the first time at the rental kart track indoors at Järfälla for us. Oskar ended up at third place with the fastest lap time of all.
It was supposed to be the end of last season but it feels more like the beginning of the next. We can’t wait for spring and the karting season 2024 to begin.

28/09/2023

Our season ended a bit earlier than planned. We have worked really hard during the second half of the season, and we need to shift our focus back to other important things such as school and work.
It has been a great but tough year with a lot of new things to learn in a short period of time. We happily ended up in fourth place in the MKR series in our first year in big kart. We’re looking back at a track record at our home track, a win in Borlänge and a podium in the Swedish Championship as well.
Now the whole team will get some well deserved rest.
The photo is from a training session in Rasbo last weekend.

06/09/2023

It wasn’t the best weekend for us in Linköping. Mechanical issues, bad starts, time penalties and a sleep deprived mechanic. It wasn’t easy.
🏎️
A short summary of the day:
Qualifying practice: P12 of 38 drivers in category Junior 125
Heat 1: P8 -> P6 at the flag, P11 after time penalty for an incorrect start.
Heat 2: P8 -> P9
Pre-final: P12 -> P14 at the flag, P17 after drop-down bumper.
Final: P17 -> P16 at the flag, P18 after drop-down bumper.
🏎️
We had a lot of family visiting us this weekend. Thanks a lot to everyone who supported us at the track when things didn’t go our way. Thank you to Tegnelius and Ronny and all the drivers and other mechanics who stopped by to chat and encourage us. Now we have a lot of work to do to get the pace back before the next race in Skövde.

28/08/2023

Coming up this weekend is the MKR 7 in Linköping. So it’s race week again 😎

Photos from Wiik Racing's post 25/08/2023

Last weekend we raced at Valla Raceway in Katrineholm. Here are some photos from the weekend, both the Friday practice and the race on Saturday.
The last photo is of the best 60 year old driver we know, Ronny Lundberg, in a wet Sunday race. We have a lot to thank him for this year. It was so nice to share the celebration of his birthday and be able to cheer for him when he was racing.
Next up for us is Linköping, but before that some testing and practice.

20/08/2023

Mixed feelings after the weekend in Katrineholm. Not the result we wanted, but we had a really good time among friends and team mates. The highlight on track was Oskar's awesome performance in the pre-final where he gained 9 places on this tight and twisty track where overtaking is very difficult. Here's a short summary:
🏎️
Qualifying practice: P3 of 25 drivers in category Junior 125
Heat 1: P2 -> P3 at the flag, but DQ due to a technical infringement.
Heat 2: P2 -> P2
Pre-final: P14 -> P5 💪🏼
Final: P5 -> DNF after a first corner collision.
🏎️
As always, it's a pleasure just being at the track in Katrineholm with the friendly atmosphere. We stayed to watch the races on Sunday as well to cheer for our friends in other categories.
We want to thank Katrineholms MK for hosting us, and our friends and extended team for a great time and good teamwork.

18/08/2023

More testing in Valla today with some mechanical issues, but hopefully we have all of them sorted out ahead of tomorrow’s race. Time to sleep!
