Gudrun Sjödén Hong Kong
Gudrun Sjödén www.gudrunsjoden.com creates clothes and home textiles in a unique style. Colourful collections in pure natural materials for women of all ag
Gudrunista Hanna, @kastaniengeheimnis, perfectly captures the spirit of summer with her favourite dresses 🌷👇🏻
- For me, a perfect summer dress is a dress that reflects the essence of summer in its pattern and material: playful, light and natural.
I found my three summer favourites at Gudrun Sjödén, like the purple wrap dress “Iris“ with the water lily motifs, that I wear on my walk around the Löwenburg. 🪷
Or the “Ingrid“ dress, which really lights you up with its intense colours. It reminds me of wearing my wooden parrot earrings from childhood again. 🦜
And the soft and airy “Myren” dress, with little ants hiding among the delicate flower and leaf patterns. 🌿🐜
What are your favourite summer clothes? ☀️

The May 2024 Collection has arrived! 😍 Drawing inspiration from the four points of the compass presents both ease and challenge. This season, we've captured the essence of a cloudberry marsh, the spirit of a Midsummer dance, and we also created four distinct blouse designs. We've indulged in vibrant colours, intricate embroideries, and breezy cotton fabrics, all while embracing the joys of summer 🌸 What comes to mind when you explore our newest arrivals?

Listen to our designer Elvira as she shares the inspiration behind the garments she has created for the summer collection 2024. Imagine the wonderful stories hidden behind every design 🥰
Our talented designer Elvira has created pieces inspired by the work of the great artist Claude Monet in a palette of garden colours. Perfect pieces for jobs around the garden and summer celebrations in the lilac bower 🪴🌸☀️🎨 Do you enjoy spending time in the garden - your own or someone else's?
“As soon as I laid my eyes on the Amber garments in the colour Masala, I smiled & felt happy🧡 I love this colour, it gives me so much positive vibes 🥰 And this thin cotton & linen blend will be perfect for the hot summer days 🤗” says gudrunista Emma, @gudrunistagirl.

The Summer Collection 2024 has arrived! 🙏 Let us take you back to our roots – to the naturally Nordic essence. Featuring materials in natural fibers, colours capturing our vibrant life, and lightweight designs that have evolved over many, many years 🌈 We draw inspiration from what's found in a garden, from ancient craftsmanship techniques, and from the vibrant colours of India. Our materials continue to be crafted from nature's own fibers like organic cotton and pure linen 💚

Say hello to the Sanganeer tunic 👋 Our newest addition to the UNIQUM family 🌺
"It's so inspiring to create these kinds of garments where I can be a bit more experimental. Then, personally handing over the sketch to the supplier and seeing the sample prints and a first prototype after a few days. That's happiness!" says Gudrun ✍🏼

In some parts of Gotland, the bedrock has only a thin covering of soil and you find common chicory, a hardy plant, growing on the bottom of banks 🌸 This was the inspiration for some of our block-print designs.
The technique itself involves first cutting and carving patterns from a wooden block. It should preferably be a dense wood species that does not splinter, such as pear or cherry wood. The number of wooden blocks depends on how many different colors you want to print with. There is often a small registration mark on the blocks, so that the different colors fit perfectly together. The wooden blocks are dipped in ink paste, then the skilled craftsmen print with speed and pressure meter after meter. In this way, the fabric is transformed into a palette of patterns, contours, and colors 😍🌈
The theme for our spring season collections is the four points of the compass 🧭
We’ve travelled north to Lapland and visited the southernmost province of Sweden, Skåne. Now, we are as far east in Sweden as you can get. On the island of Gotland.
“Every time I visit, I’m struck by the unique natural scenery and view of the sea all around this little paradise island. It takes just four hours to reach Gotland by ferry from Stockholm and less than an hour by air. We had booked rooms at Bunge Youth Hostel for our team of eight, which included Mats our photographer and Martina and myself, the stylists. Our bus was fully packed with clothes from three beautiful collections and a homeware collection.
Join us on our trip east to Gotland and Fårö!”
– Gudrun 💚
Gudrunista Monika, shares her beautiful spring look, inspired by the colours of the North! 🩵🌲🌸
Another member of the UNIQUM family, Rosamunda 💙
“The design for this dress came together in my watercolour sketchbook where I often collect new ideas when out on my travels. Creating individual products like this is so inspiring as it allows me to get more experimental.”
–Gudrun
Psst! Just like all UNIQUM products, the Rosamunda dress is produced in limited quantities and is only available from our webshop.
Notes from the North 💚🌄 Checks & Flowers is a collection that Gudrun created while visiting the Indian city of Jaipur for a few pleasant weeks. Designed around three colour schemes on the theme of The four cardinal directions. The idea for this collection was the north point of the compass, so we headed to the northernmost part of Lapland for our shoot. Where we saw the midnight sun and snow-capped peaks in Abisko National Park 🗻What a trip!
A true sign of spring ☀️ The liverleaf (hepatica nobilis) which has inspired parts of our spring design, is one of the most beloved spring flowers in the Nordic region. Thriving in woodlands and meadows, it often emerges as one of the first signs of spring, spreading joy and color across the landscape! The liverleaf is most common in southern Sweden but can also be found further north, and it is protected throughout the country.
No matter where you are in the world, we can all appreciate the wonders of nature and the excitement that comes with the changing seasons 🌍🌷 Is there a specific sign of spring that you eagerly await each year?
“We take photos of Elvira’s HEPATICA collection for spring 2024 in flowering meadows and with the blue water of the river Torne as a backdrop. What a great team we make: Mats, Marcel, Olena, Lina, Helen, Ella and Karin. We get some incredibly beautiful photos on the very first day.” 📸

Do you have a few minutes to spare? Join Gudrun and our Art Director Lina as they share their photo journey to Jukkasjärvi and the land of the midnight sun 🎥🌅🦟
"Garments with good durability and timeless design that one wears until they are worn out provide the least environmentally impactful effect. That's how I want to live and work. I believe creating designs with a long lifespan is my most significant contribution to a more pleasant, greener world. It has been my passion and guiding star for over 40 years." – Gudrun 💚
As you may have noticed, Gudrun loves documenting her travels in text and images. The photo journey for the Spring collection to Jukkasjärvi is no exception 📝:
"Now we're heading towards Abisko and Björkliden. We want to photograph in the midnight sun - and we do. A completely magical light. We see the sun go down towards the horizon and then up again after midnight."
Sun in the middle of the night – it's called midnight sun or polar day! It's when the sun decides to stay visible around the clock, even in the middle of the night. This phenomenon occurs north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle during their respective summer halves. So, if you've ever wondered why nights get a little extra bright in these parts of the world, it's because the sun decides to make a grand entrance right in the middle of the darkness! 🌅

Join us on our journey from the north to the south, where the end result became an exciting and varied collection 💚 Gudrun and her team headed to Jukkasjärvi, far up in northern Sweden 🧭 There, they were close to Abisko, Björkliden, Katterjokk, and Riksgränsen – places that Gudrun has visited quite a few times. Our second photo team set course for southern Sweden and Skåne. There, they wanted to find wide plains, willow embankments, and perhaps a blue sea 🌾 Have a lovely spring and be inspired by our FOUR CARDINAL POINTS – the theme for this spring's collection! 🌞
