Our 2023 Christmas Light-up series comes to a close with the third and final workshop: Jingle Bell Joules!

The workshop was facilitated by teachers Weimin and Winnie, and students focused on the amazing properties of candle wicks!

We held the second workshop of our 2023 Christmas Light-up series: Frosty's Elements!

Facilitated by teachers Weimin and Winnie, our students focused their investigations on candles!

Through some experiments and teamwork, they discovered the chemical composition of candles and how candles change when they burn.

This past Saturday we held the first workshop of our 2023 Christmas Light-up series: Santa's Fireplace!

Facilitated by teachers Weimin and Winnie, our students had lots of fun using the scientific method and experimented (safely) with fire!

They learnt all about the different combustion types, the gases produced when we burn candles, and how to scientifically test for the presence of certain gases. They even got to roast some marshmallows!

The next two workshops from our Christmas Light-up series are happening this coming Saturday! We can't wait to explore more fun science with our students 😁🎄🧑🏻‍🔬👩🏻‍🔬

Inspired by Michael Faraday's Christmas Lectures at The Royal Institute (UK), our Christmas Light-up workshops promise a fun and science filled holiday for young ones aged 7-14 years (and a 2 hour breather for parents, 3 Saturdays in a row 😉)

We wrapped up the Science Sunday - Young Pasteur Series with electricity ⚡️🔌⚡️

The young sciencists had lots of fun in experiencing static electricity, building electrical circuits and understanding how electricity gets to our home.
We even tried to charge a leyden jar! That gets everyone super excited 🤪🤯🤩

Previously, in Science Sunday, the young scientists explored how digestive system works in human body. We carried out experiments with different variables to understand the best condition for enzyme-substrate reaction🔎

Seeing how they worked as a team and helped each other (they even cheered and encouraged each other) warms our hearts as educators 💕

*The young scientists carried out their own experiments in a safe environment under supervision.*

The young scientists learnt and experienced chemical reactions and chemistry experiments for the first time. They were able to work in groups as a team to investigate how variables affect experiment results.
