The Young PAP hosted an enlightening dialogue on 13 July, focusing on mental health! 🧠 We were also honoured to have Mr Wan Rizal and Mdm Rahayu join us.

Our panel featured Dr Janil Puthucheary , Cho Ming Xiu from .sg, Chirag Argawal of .sg, and Empathy Therapist Glenn Woo. They explored Singapore's mental health ecosystem and discussed the various support options available through social service agencies like the Singapore Association for Mental Health, Samaritans of Singapore and other healthcare providers. 🌟

Earlier in May, Kebun Baru Young PAP had a blast at a retreat with . It wasn’t just any gathering; we spiced it up with some thrilling go-karting and delicious Lok Lok, creating memories that will last!

Yesterday at Marina Bay Sands, the YP EXCO witnessed an exciting new chapter in our party’s journey with the unveiling of the PAP Refresh initiative. This milestone event marks a significant step forward as we renew our commitment to serve Singaporeans more effectively, engaging more deeply, communicating more clearly, and organising more robustly.

YP has been advocating for youth-linked causes. During ASG Desmond Lee’s speech, he highlighted some of YP’s efforts which included our 2020 Climate Change Paper and 2022 Mental Health Survey. The leaders have responded to our calls and embraced the concerns and passions of our community head-on. After consulting widely, the PAP has launched the Mental Health and Climate Action wing to amplify our efforts in these areas. These initiatives are part of our broader strategy to expand our outreach and strengthen our network of activists and partners.

As we move forward, we remain committed to taking bold steps and being a party of action. Together, we’re not just dreaming of a better Singapore; we’re making it happen. Join us on this transformative journey.

🌸🎉 Throwback to Celebrating Mothers Across Singapore! 🎉🌸

This past Mother’s Day, Young PAP chapters all across Singapore came together to honour and celebrate the incredible mothers in our communities. From the bustling streets of Clementi West to the vibrant markets of Tampines, our teams made sure every mother felt special.

Each branch brought its unique touch to the festivities - whether through flower distributions, heartfelt notes, or small community gatherings. The joy and appreciation in the air were palpable as we all took a moment to acknowledge the amazing contributions and sacrifices of mothers everywhere.

A massive thank you to everyone who participated and made these celebrations possible. To all the wonderful mothers, your endless love and resilience inspire us daily. Here’s to continuing to cherish and support the remarkable women in our lives!

🏘️ Showing Care for our Community 🏘️

Our dedicated young activists and volunteers from the PAP West Coast Branch have been actively partnering with PCF West Coast to distribute over 1000 Care Bags to households across the division since January. Alongside essential household items, residents were also given the opportunity to engage in community initiatives and share valuable feedback on a range of topics, from policies to environmental concerns.

Today, Young PAP proudly joined our brothers and sisters from NTUC at an extraordinary event — PM Lee’s final May Day Rally as Prime Minister. Together, we gathered in solidarity and appreciation, reflecting on the profound contributions PM Lee has made to Singapore’s labor movement and national development.

This rally wasn’t just a ceremony; it was a celebration of decades of dedicated leadership and a reaffirmation of our commitment to the principles of fairness, progress, and unity that PM Lee has championed. As we listened to his inspiring words, we were reminded of the strength that comes from unity and the importance of our continued partnership with NTUC in striving for the betterment of every worker.

This morning at 8:30 AM, Admiralty MPS Young PAP activists gathered for a meaningful tree planting event alongside our esteemed branch chair, Mr Vikram Nair. With 30 dedicated activists in attendance, we planted a beautiful Madagascar Almond tree, symbolising our commitment to environmental sustainability and community growth.

Their inspiring words about the importance of youth involvement in shaping a thriving Singapore truly resonated with us. In the festive spirit of Chinese New Year, Mr Kwek Hian Chuan Henry - 郭献川 and Kebun Bahru Young PAP, in collaboration with Melben Seafood Depot Lane, spread warmth and cheer among our seniors. We were delighted to donate over 80 scrumptious hawker meals to the elderly residing at 115 Ang Mo Kio Ave 4.

This gesture was more than just about providing meals; it was about sharing the joy and warmth of the Lunar New Year with our respected seniors, ensuring they feel an integral part of our festive celebrations.

Recently we witnessed an empowering discussion on “Enhancing Mental Health Support in Singapore,” featuring key insights from Dr Wan Rizal, Ms Mariam Jaafar, and Mr Edward Chia Bing Hui 谢秉辉. Our 100 youths came together to brainstorm and engage in direct dialogue about advancing our nation’s mental health initiatives.

This event was a vital part of a broader effort led by PAP MPs, who recently filed a motion in Parliament for a whole-of-nation approach to enhance mental health and well-being. The motion emphasises the need for a robust national mental health ecosystem, proactive in promoting mental well-being.

Dr. Wan Rizal highlighted the significant economic and social impact of mental health issues, stressing the importance of a community-centered approach. He, along with other MPs like Dr Tan Wu Meng 陈有明 and Mr Yip Hon Weng 叶汉荣, are advocating for expanded mental health services, early identification, and intervention, promoting mental well-being, and improving workplace mental health.

This dialogue was more than a conversation; it was a commitment to action, aligning with the government’s launch of a national mental health and well-being strategy. The strategy introduces a tiered model of care and builds upon the National Mental Health Blueprint and Community Mental Health Masterplan.

Together, we’re not just addressing mental health challenges; we’re taking proactive steps to build a more understanding, inclusive, and resilient Singapore.

Understanding the importance of a conducive environment and the right guidance, our dedicated volunteers have stepped forward to provide both to students after school hours. It’s more than just a study space – it’s a place where questions are encouraged, answers are explored, and every challenge is met with collective effort.

Stepping into nature's classroom, the Young PAP Sustainability Cell embarked on an inspiring journey today at Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve. 🌿⁣

From the towering mangrove trees to the elusive monitor lizards, owls, and locusts, we were fortunate to observe a wide variety of mangrove organisms in their natural habitat. ⁣
⁣
But it wasn't just about observing; we engaged in enlightening discussions about Singapore's biodiversity and sustainable, self-sufficient food production. This trip reminded us of the delicate balance that exists within our ecosystems and the importance of preserving it. 🌏⁣

As we hiked and learnt together, we also built friendships. The camaraderie we shared while exploring nature's beauty was truly special. ⁣

Young PAP activists have once again shown their dedication and passion for serving the community! Last Friday, youths from Ulu Pandan Branch distributed pre-loved appliances to the residents of Ghim Moh Road. 🏠 ⁣
⁣
Activists from Bukit Timah Branch organised a “Pass-It-On” campaign to collect donated electrical appliances from residents, to be upcycled and sent to a new home. From TVs and microwaves, to air fryers, air purifiers and fans, branch volunteers helped to select, clean and fix the appliances. ⁣
⁣
We are immensely grateful to all who donated, and to our young PAP activists who made this initiative a success. Your actions truly exemplify the spirit of care and community that we strive to foster. 💪⁣
