This month, we take you on a tour of some of our latest “toys” in Nylon. Reinvesting in new tech and human centric equipment to help us to deliver better coffees consistently. 2024 has been enriching for the #teamNylon as we learnt to work on new machines, embarked on overseas pop-up, migrating to a new roasting machine etc. Coffee is a lifelong learning. For this month’s subscribers, we’re excited to hear your feedback in this month’s subscription coffee, a washed Ethiopian, from the Gedeb region, roasted in our new toy. Who doesn’t like Ethiopian coffees…. especially when it’s so SWEET! We will love to hear your feedback! video credits: @thecoffeefolkssg

Our Central American coffees are in full swing as we feature two new coffees for September. For our 1 bag subscribers, we roasted a Harrar variety from Los Pirineos, from our friend, Diego Baraona in El Salvador. This is a heirloom variety that originated from Ethiopia which Diego’s father, Gilberto, planted in their nursery many years back. For those 2-bags subscribers, you are in for a treat as the 2nd coffee also comes from the same farm but of a different variety - Pacamara, which is ubiquitous to El Salvador. Two different coffees grown in the same farm, but tasting very different. Brew them up and let us know what you think! On a related note, we are also very keen to hear from you if you’d like us to add an espresso option to our current monthly subscription?

As we look forward to September, we are also super excited ti be preparing for a new coffee to share with our subscribers. These are coffees that we specially curate every month that can range from interesting flavours, processing or even rare varieties which one might not come across often. These coffees are smaller lots and more exclusive, hence they are not typically available on our retail rack. Occasionally we have a little left for other customers but subscribers always get a preview. If you subscribe to more than 1 bag, the 2nd or/and 3rd bag of coffee is usually a showcase of a coffee that is interesting to taste alongside the subscription coffee of the month. If you’d like to try our subscription coffee, you can find more information from our website or previous IG posts where we shared more information about each coffee that was sent out. Remember to sign up by 28th of each month from our website or through the product link in the photo above. You can also choose to gift a 3-month or 6-month subscription to a friend! You have less roughly a day to do it for September! And here’s a video of Hayley brewing on August coffee to savour the last tastes of the El Puente Batian variety. Don’t miss out! #nyloncoffee #nyloncoffeesubscription

We have a guest in this month’s subscription video! Glenn, who recently placed 3rd in the National Brewers Cup Competition on his first attempt, shared some of the highlights of his journey. We also had the opportunity to speak with the producer of the coffee used for the competition and this month’s subscription coffee, Carlos Cerquera. We asked Carlos about his thoughts after hearing the good news and also about the goals for his farm, La Esperanza. Hope you enjoy it! #nyloncoffee #nyloncoffeesubscription #drinkNylon

We’re continuing our home brewing series with a video featuring the ever-popular and inexpensive Moka pot, also known as a stovetop coffee maker. In this video, Darren will share some key details to pay attention to and provide tips for brewing a better cup using our coffee. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the reel! #nyloncoffee #drinkNylon #mokapot #stovetop

Time has flown by and we are almost halfway through 2024. As we approach the second half of the year, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of fresh crops from Central America and Africa. We are also finishing up most of our coffees from South America, and this month we are featuring the final Brazilian coffee as June’s subscription coffee. We are always super excited when we cup a Brazilian with vibrant fruit tones and a clean finish. This natural processed Arara lot stood out as a perfect showcase of how some varieties in the right environment will flourish and produce excellent cup quality. This month’s video also touched on coffee varieties. Have fun brewing!

In this month’s video, we talked about the misconception about Pink Bourbon and bring you on a “journey” to discover how we use what we eat daily to help with our tasting of coffees. Enjoy the video! #nyloncoffee #nylonsubscriptioncoffee

Did you know? Earth Day started on April 22, 1970 after a major oil spill off the coast of Santa Barbara, California in 1969. Seeing the public’s response to the disaster, Senator Gaylord Nelson proposed the first Earth Day as a way to galvanize grassroots activism for environmental education and awareness. 54 years later, we are truly experiencing the effects of climate change, global warming, extreme weather patterns and plastic pollution ever more than before. Is there hope for our fragile Planet Earth? Besides being a member of @1percentftp by actively taking responsibility for the health of our planet by donating 1% of our annual sales to environmental partners addressing today’s most pressing environmental challenges, we also do what we can do on a daily basis to cut down our carbon footprint. Here at Nylon, we remain hopeful that every little actions can add up to a big change. We would like to share what we do to reduce plastics, conserve energy, reuse ‘waste’ and recycle whenever possible. Every bit counts. Together we make a bigger difference. We only one one planet ☝🏼 #nyloncoffee #earthday

Presenting our lineup of friends who will be with us hand in hand on 1 May 2024 for our 12th anniversary fundraising event, helping to raise funds for our adopted water project in Madagascar with @charitywater. Come by for some bakes, yummy soft serves, coffees and leave with handmade crochet and pottery. What better way to spend the holiday by heading down to Everton Park this Labour Day!

We have a new coffee from Peru for the month of April. A fresh crop from the village of Santa Teresa in the region of Cusco that only arrived at our roastery a few weeks back. Super happy to share it with our subscribers and a fruity Brazilian coffee from Sitio Canaa for our 2 bags folks. We also took the opportunity to share the way we brew our iced filters in the shop, in light of the very HOT weather over the past weeks (and weeks to come). Let us know how this works out for you! As always, please drop us your comments and feedback below and tag us with your brews! We’d love to hear and see how you are enjoying this coffee! Till next month, let’s continue to #brewNylon, #drinkNylon.

Welcoming March with another familiar coffee from La Laja in Colombia. In this month’s video, we chatted about James Fernandez’s work with our exporter, Banexport and how that has helped him to be a better coffee producer, applying his knowledge and experience in improving the quality of his coffees and growing new varieties. We were running high for beginning of March fueling up the thirsty Swifties dropping into the Lion City. Ending off with an announcement for our upcoming origin trip that will cause some disruptions to the usual roasting schedule. Please note that there will be no roasting from 14-26/3 and the webshop will be closed from 13-22/3. As usual, grab your coffee needs earlier to avoid disappointment, otherwise do #supportlocal with other roasters. As always, please drop us your comments and feedback below and tag us with your brews! We love to hear and see how you are enjoying this coffee! Till next month, let’s continue to #brewNylon, #drinkNylon. Which La Laja Sudan Rume did you prefer!?

Brewing can be both interesting and exciting if you get a good cup, equally frustrating if you struggle to bring out what the coffee might be tasting. At Nylon, we always seek to help you to bridge that gap with our coffees, be it pulling shots using our espresso roasts or brewing a cup of filter from the filter range. Feel free to approach any of us on your next visit if you like to share with us your brewing adventures! Here we have Darren sharing what he loves to do on his off day (brewing coffee of course 😁), using one of our favourite coffees at the moment - Las Palmas Geisha natural from Diego Baraona. Check it out! #nyloncoffee #teamNylon #specialtycoffee #drinknylon
