Always read the jacket of your cable to check if you are being supplied Cat 5E, Cat6 or Cat6A cables, PRIOR to them being pulled all over your home as your network backbone. Your network cables are often overlooked as the source of bottlenecks to your internet traffic at home. While they provide a physical medium for data transmission, many factors can cause them to not be able to exercise their full potential at transmitting data at high speeds. Among them 1) Cable's lower copper content than what was advertised 2) Category of cable supplied not as specified (If you have been supplied CAT6 cables by your supplier and was told they are the same as CAT6A, please note they are NOT) 3) Network cables are made up of 8 colour-coded wires inside the jacket. They need to be terminated in the right colour order and often they have been found to be not. 4) The termination of the cables (crimping) was not done properly and the socket or head does not have good contact with the wires. 5) The cables have been bent past their minimum bend radius in their routing, hence stressing the wires inside and causing eventual breakage 6) The cables were run side by side with electric current carrying power cables, exposed to interference from Electromagnetic Waves Our testing service does not only check for connectivity between point A and B of the cables. Data signals need more stringent requirements to be met by the cables carrying them, so the cables, end-to-end, needs to be tested via a device that simulates of data running through them. Do not renovate your home without insisting on having your supplied network cable jacket inspected for specifications tested for speed after installation. Your home deserves optimum WiFi coverage. With streaming and gaming usage on the rise and happening simultaneously within any home on multiple devices, you cannot afford to have mis-configured and/or outdated WiFi systems causing a bottleneck to your internet traffic and depriving you of the internet speed you paid for, and should be entitled to.
