has changed my perception of Shepherd's pie. My experience with any shepherd's pie tended to be mash potatoes, simply seasoned mince meat and only frozen vegetables that are often baked until most of the moisture and my soul is dried out. Luckily, Imageblu Feast is none of that nonsense.
Menu items featured:
-Lamb
-Rendang Beef
-Chicken Mushroom
Each pie is delivered hot and presented in a metal pan (the asian aunty in me loves that I get a baking pan out if this!). The golden potato topping decorated with sprigs of rosemary makes for an elegant addition to any table. I easily imagine it to be a popular item at a family gathering or a pot luck with friends. Not only do they look great but they are hefty with buttery mash potatoes and saucy flavourful fillings, reflecting the warmth of home cooking.
The chicken mushroom pie is a crowd pleaser, chunks of chicken and mushrooms lightly seasoned with turmeric, it is creamy and non-spicy. I think this is a safe bet for large parties where there may be kids and non-adventurous eaters.
The lamb pie is super meaty and rich. I loved it but this one may not suit everyone's palette - the first taste of the lamb pie is full on fat, though it is tempered with the sweet tang of tomato and chilli and easily complements the mash. It makes me think of a mix between goulash and tulang merah?
My favourite was the rendang pie, where the shredded beef and kerisik made a satisfying bite. There are many different styles of rendang, and I'm more used to dryer versions of it, but I didn't mind this saucier version that acts as a great gravy for the mash. It's surprisingly less spicy than the lamb, and when the pie cools, the sweetness of cardamom is revealed, lending it an almost briyani vibe.
