This is the best dry laksa I’ve had in Singapore & incredibly tasty mee tai mak 25/09/2023

Look look !! Best dry laksa in SG Kay!!! Don't play play.

This is the best dry laksa I’ve had in Singapore & incredibly tasty mee tai mak Simple and kind. Reading that tagline, I found myself immediately wanting to discover more about the brand, Omage Foods. My chef-to-writer colleague, Aaron and I made our way down to their stall at Bedok 85 Market last week. Our positive first impressions from the tagline were buoyed even further wh...

Signature Mee Tai Mak Review
First up was the Signature Mee Tai Mak. Having learnt this recipe from his mentor, Brandon shared that this rendition of Mee Tai Mak is a cross between Carrot Cake and Char Kway Teow. Packed with Minced Pork, Minced Prawns, Chai Por, Mushrooms, their homemade Rempah and more, the entire dish was almost like an explosion of flavours! The dish also has a substantial amount of ‘wok hei’. Highly addictive indeed.

Dry Laksa Review
The Dry Laksa ($3.50), where the thick bee hoon came coated in some luscious gravy, was a close second as my personal favourite, just behind the Signature Mee Tai Mak.

Mee Siam Review
The last of the three mains is the Dry Mee Siam ($3.50). Carrying hints of sourness from the assam thrown into the mix, this tasted slightly different to any other Dry Mee Siam I’ve had before. I really appreciated the squeeze of lime which helped cut through the flavourful rempah that clung to the bee hoon well.

Now, to our experience with the dish. Aaron is a laksa addict and is a particularly ardent fan of his go-to laksa stall. He hadn’t been able to make his way down there of late but the Omage Foods version blew him away. Aaron says that this is the best dry laksa in Singapore, hands down. In his words, this stall sets a “new benchmark” for this dish in Singapore.

review!!

Mee Tai Mak Review
Omage Food’s signature item is their Mee Tai Mak. What sets their version apart from the rest is the house-made rempah that coats all the ingredients, providing a burst of flavour and wok hei with every mouthful.

Dry Laksa Review
In addition to their popular mee tai mak, they also offer Dry Laksa. This dry laksa is said to be just the right amount of spicy, with a flavoursome kick that makes this dish extremely moreish—even for those with a low spice tolerance.

Dry Mee Siam Review
Alternatively, you can go for their Dry Mee Siam. This comes with all the usual suspects that you’d get in a bowl of soupy mee siam, with its tangy flavour profile making it great for something lighter than laksa.

Our dry laksa draws inspiration from all over south East Asia, while borrowing techniques commonly found in western cuisines, such as pasta. This is a perfect example of how Chef (Brandon) combines his training from and his heritage as a Kampung boy from into our dishes.

review ⭐⭐⭐ hit link in story for full review.

The dishes at Omage Foods have a nostalgic flavour. These seemingly simple stir-fried noodles are packed with familiar ingredients which bring out layers of savoury flavour that can be enjoyed by all. Starting at $3.50, it is so affordable! However, they close at 2pm so be sure to come only for breakfast or lunch. Full review at https://foodking.sg/omage-foods/

*Edit... major typo in the previous post. so... reposting. That's how foggy our heads are.

We haven't posted in a while, and many of our supporters are curious what we've been up too. Currently, we're recovering from a recent COVID infection, and have been confining ourselves at home for the past week or so. Prior to this we were both engaged with a side project that took up a lot of our time. We also became furparents during this period too. We'll be back soon. Our kitchen is due for a major upgrade and we won't be able to take any orders until after the 3rd week of March.
Check back soon as we have a lot of exciting news to share with you including our first physical store we hope will be up and running by June.

05/07/2021

Delivery for next 2 weeks are full.

We're working hard to fulfil your orders but due to overwhelming response, we have a back log to clear. Our earliest available date is on the 24th of July. Be sure to check back soon or follow our social media for more updates & information.

Spreading some joy and gratitude

Photos from Omage Foods's post 29/06/2021

The one that start it all. The Original Kaya Pod pod is inspired by our childhood Kueh salat, and made with a combination of new age french and old school techniques.

It was somewhere here at Thomson Green that it was first dreamed up by our chef. He wanted to create a curd for a pie but it didn't work, and became too gummy after it's chilled. After 3 years of trying various techniques, he landed on a new piece of technology that completed the puzzle.

So go ahead and mix up history, dip into the present and spread some joy today.

Photos from Omage Foods's post 28/06/2021

There are so ways to enjoy this Discovery Pod. Our Salted Egg Yolk Curd is our 3rd Pod and it is super versatile.

The curd is sweet by nature, so it will work as a spread or you can can pair with durain or coffee ice cream. Use your imagination and turn it into a savoury dip or sauce. Works super well with fries, fried chicken or calamari.

The Salted Egg Yolk Curd pod was the hardest to put together. We were stuck on this for a long time. It was supposed to be the 3rd product launched right after our Gula Melaka Spread back in August 2020. We tried at least 5 recipes but could never get it to work. Turns out less is more. This is our version of Salted Egg Yolk. It's a little different, because... We're a little different.

So go ahead and mix, dip and spread some joy.

Second Pod in our Re:Discover Singapore Series is our sugar free spread. It was inspired by our friend aunty Irene who we used to work with, and she really took really good care of us.

She needed to reduce her sugar intake, but wanted to have kaya, so we created this for her. Took us a few tries to get the consistency just right, and using a sugar substitute that won't cause too much discomfort to your tummy was also crucial.

Our Tangy, Sweet & Citrusy Summer Chiffon will lift your spirits up during this dull and warm season.

A light and citrusy orange chiffon is topped with a generous dollop of patisserie style kalamansi curd, glossy French style candied orange, finished with complementary edible Lavender, Blue Pea and Jasmine buds.
