So recently Coco Jie attended a training session by on estate planning and of particular there was a brief introduction on lasting power of attorney. Which made me remember the importance of it as within the LGBTQ+ community it is an important document to ensure that your partner can take care of you if you are mentally incapacitated.

For a very simple reason, we are not protected by the law when we are in a relationship, so if your family does not agree your relationship chances are your partner are deny all rights to take care of you or even visit you. However, with this legal document, things will be very different (of course if the family goes renegade then it's another thing la)

If you have not set up a LPA do consider doing it up (especially if you have a partner).
