Spring time! Take a look at your thought processes. Are you running round in circles? Consider strategies to remove these repetitive thoughts and make more of the moment.
Overthinking is going over the same thought again and again.
Everyone overthinks sometimes. The problems arise for people who find it very difficult to stop the thoughts.
The overthinking brain cannot translate these thoughts into actions or positive outcomes, so therefore creates feelings of stress and anxiety.
Signs that you might be overthinking include:
* Dwelling on past events or situations
* Second-guessing decisions you've made
* Replaying your mistakes in your mind
* Rehashing challenging or uncomfortable conversations
* Fixating on things you can't control, change or improve
* Imagining the worst-case scenario or outcome
* Following your worries out of the present moment and into an unchangeable past or unforeseeable future
* "Running your list" while trying to fall asleep
* Questioning but never making a decision or taking action
Overthinking can change the way you work with others and the way you do things. It can significantly affect your personal life, social life and work-life too. Most importantly, overthinking may also cause emotional distress. To overcome this, you will need to make some changes in your perspective and make a constant effort to shrug away any thoughts that make you feel astray.
