[Hawker Diary] In the past, visiting ice cream palour was a luxury, and not every kids get to enjoy it.

To make her precious grandson smile, Tao Qiu's Ah Ma had once created her own version of fancy parfait; the coconut ice cream stick buy from downstairs mamak store at the corner, with crushed Gong Tang (貢糖), Chinese Peanut Sweet (花生软糖) and the fanciful Iced Gem Biscuit (肚臍餅), it's childhood memories that Tao Qiu would never forgets.

We had tried to recreate that nostalgic Ah Ma's concortion, adding a dose of Singaporean favorite Durian pengat and drizzle with Gula Melaka.

This would not be some new fancy Michelin breakthrough flavor frankly...just pure enjoyment of good old ice cream down the memory lane.

Hawkerman] at Kedai Kopi] sends out the best, most titillating noods, but it’s all a hundred percent halal. And two hundred percent piquant, just in case you were wondering. At $4.50 for this here plate of comely char kway teow, it’s a prime example of why Singapore’s hawker culture is officially designated as cultural heritage by unesco.⠀

It’s cheap, but it’s deliriously delicious. Sure, it’s missing the blood cockles that usually make or break a plate of CKT, but everything else is absolutely spot on. The flat kway teow & the thick egg noodles are slick and smooth with the right amount of chew. The carbs are well incorporated with fluffy scraps of omelette, and there’s an abundance of fishcake slices & chicken lup cheong (preserved Chinese sausages) within. Still, I would’ve liked to see some shrimp in there to replace the absent cockles. ⠀

The whole shebang is felicitously fried in a wok to load it with an acceptably ambrosial amount of wok hei, and then it’s ready to tantalise many a tastebud. I know it definitely tantalised mine, so send me more noods please. JUST SEND IT⠀

Yes, we are finally back at Paya Lebar and found our new playground inside the newly opened Kedai Kopi at 12 Haig Road. It’s just 8mins walk from Paya Lebar MRT and located beside the famous Haig Road Hawker Centre

Apart from our signature Hokkien Mee, we have introduce new menu items like Char Kway Teow with chicken Chinese sausage and our super popular Crispy Oyster Omelette at Clementi.

At this new playground, we have a lot of a new kakis joining us like MaLa MaMa with their new creation (think mala xiang guo but the ingredients were fried instead of sautéed for the extra texture before tossing in their intensely delicious mala sauce),

Nenda's Fritters which is 100% Muslim owed, the family have been in Pasar Malam for 20 years and finally found their home here. The non stop queue from morning till night is a testimonial of their popularity.

tenderfresh is also introducing a new pizza and pasta stall with their usual quirky Asian fusion creation.

Last but not least the drink stall is offering a new refreshing RIBENA BANDUNG (Ribena X Yakult) in the cute gr***de bottle and our favourite Wheatgrass Bandung 😍

Doing our part to help our fellow teammates from . Due to some issues, the outside seating area will be delayed for a few weeks before we construct a new structure. Before that happens, we would have to make do with the old structure for a while.

Opening of a coffeeshop/restaurant is always hectic and tiring, but it can be fun when there’s a group of kakis working hard together.
