Farewell to John Mayall, a great musician and mentor to blues artists such as Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Mick Taylor, Andy Fraser, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Keef Hartley, Dick Heckstall-Smith and many others. Mayall left us yesterday at the age of 90 in his beloved California. He was also a strong indirect influence on Laibach. Thank you, maestro, R.I.P.

The book accompanying the jubilee exhibition AUSSTELLUNG! LAIBACH KUNST 1980 – 1984 at Škuc Gallery, focuses on the artistic practice of Laibach Kunst, its significance and reception during Laibach's intense activity within the Ljubljana and Yugoslav alternative scene in the first half of the 1980s. Six texts (Barbara Borčić, Lilijana Stepančič, Eda Čufer, Dragan Živadinov, Leonida Kovač in Slavko Timotijević) analyse and interpret Laibach's artistic and media activities, their images, methods and processes, and reflect on the first exhibitions in the three urban centres of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia – Belgrade, Ljubljana and Zagreb. These formative exhibitions grounded the method of retro-avantgarde and the artistic processes of appropriation and montage, and introduced a characteristic world of motifs, imaginary and system of symbols that stimulated intense associations and a multitude of diverse interpretations.

V petek, 5. 7., ob 18. uri vabljeni v Galerijo Škuc na predavanje postgravitacijskega umetnika Dragana Živadinova z naslovom Severni red: Laibach Kunst, na katerem bo tematiziral retroavantgardizem skupine Laibach. Predavanje se bo osredotočalo na koncept »inženirstva človeških duš« in na delo umetnostnega zgodovinarja Nikolaja Punina.

On Friday, 5 July, at 6 pm, you are kindly invited to the lecture by post-gravity artist Dragan Živadinov entitled Northern Order: Laibach Kunst at the Škuc Gallery, where he will thematise the retro-avantgardism of Laibach Kunst. The lecture will focus on the concept of “engineering human souls” and the work of art historian Nikolaj Punin.
