We are focused on meeting the development assistance needs by offering exceptional functional expertise, regional experience, and a commitment to excellence. Today, GDS remains focused on meeting the development assistance needs of emerging markets and developing countries by offering exceptional functional expertise, regional experience, and a commitment to excellence. We focus on Four intervention areas – Health, Education, Livelihood, Governance and improving the quality/utilization of basic services. We employ key strategies for program implementation: Evidence Generation; Accurate Analysis, Community Engagement; and Capacity Development.
GDS is here to serves government agencies, private sector companies and several donor agencies. GDS is open to work with several international donors including DFid, EU, USAID, IDB, MCC, UNWFP, US DoS, WB, and others. We have a team of over 300 Volunteer across all the district in Sierra Leone and 5 expert members with a diverse background cutting across public health, medicine, nutrition, education, social sciences, environmental sciences and accounting. We also have a pool of over 12 young professionals that we have trained on data collection using digital technology. We are headquartered in the Freetown, with representation in 10 Districts (Kailahun, Karena, Kenema, Kono Bo, Moyamba, Port Loko, Bombali and Western Area Urban and Rural) in Sierra Leone, with plans to move to Liberia and beyond. GDS works across many sectors, including but not limited to, conflict and crisis, democracy and governance, agriculture and food security, economic growth, education, environment, and global health.
GDS plan to cultivated a solid reputation for providing and managing responsive technical services and support client through large, complex, multi-year, multi-sector mission-wide or regional portfolio-wide Monitoring Evaluation and Learning contracts. In our MEL support contracts, GDS has successfully designed M&E and learning systems for each of the clients, while carrying out monitoring support services to the clients and implementing partners (IPs) and conducting evaluations across all sectors. These M&E support systems have routinely included the design and/or review of Performance Monitoring Plans; the review of and technical advice to IPs of their Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Plans; the assessment of data quality, both at the Mission and activity levels; the site monitoring and verification of IP reporting; conducting of baseline surveys; carrying out (cross) sectoral assessments; and methodological design and implementation of performance and impact evaluations. Working closely with IPs, GDS provides learning support in a variety of ways on a number of its’ projects. In recent years’, GDS has excelled at Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA), and has employed it into many of its Activities. In addition to taking measures to incorporate CLA into its’ programs, GDS also regularly designs and implements learning agendas, facilitates collaborative discussions to enhance learning, design, plan, and conduct learning and sharing workshops, implemented both virtually and in-person to ensure integrated learning among all stakeholders. GDS also takes measures to identify areas of collaboration that foster cross cutting approaches to implementing a mission wide learning agendas.
